About 2 weeks ago the Final Jeopardy category was "Broadway" and the questions was something along the lines of "In 2013, this musical based on a movie became the first musical to gross over a billion dollars on Broadway". Only one contestant got it right. (i did too)
Answer: The Lion King
I love when they have Broadway questions. I saw another episode a month or two ago when the FInal Jeopardy was Jersey Boys related.
Personally, I am waiting for a Wildhorn category or at least a trivia question with him as the answer
Yes, I liked the new Broadway category. I remember "46th State" / "Oklahoma", and something like "making fortune in commerce easily" -- "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying". I forget the others.
Every time they have a Broadway category and all the men stand there expressionless missing something like "Kinky Boots" or even "The Producers", I always think "that's what happens when they have all straight men as contestants.
I saw an episode a weeks ago (I think a rerun) where the final Jeopardy answer was The Lion King and the clue was pretty generous - basically something like "this musical based on a movie became the first show to gross $1 billion on Broadway"
Contestants were two women and one man. One of the women got it correct and the other had no idea. One guessed Spiderman ...
This seemed like an easy question to me. But I did consider that if you aren't a theatre enthusiast and don't live in the NY metro area (where you get lots of commercials for shows) it's possible to have no clue.
This was a final jeopardy questio n in The Tournament of Champions. The category was American Books. The 3 champions did not get it, neither did I but my 21 year old son did.
This book was published in 1830, and in 2011 there was a piece by the same name that premiered.
I just have to brag that a dear friend is the returning champion! I missed last night's episode, but last Friday they had the category '80's Tony Awards' and we all whooped at the viewing party.
Was rooting for him Robbie, he's from Brooklyn, right?
He lives in Queens. He's one of the nicest, kindest guys in the whole world, and he's been an amazing friend to me during good times and bad. He had a big viewing party and we all lost our friggin' minds when he won. Bitch kept his mouth shut!!
I still find it hysterical that, in response to the question "Which Seinfeld co-star won a Tony for Jerome Robbin's Broadway," a contestant replied "George Alexander."
It was a fun category to see pop up, I love when they ask theater-related questions!
