I watched it, it was very anti-climatic. I thought the were going to choose the person live on the air, but it was a taped piece. It was like, "so and so, we'd like you to be Matthew. OK." End of piece.

Scott left about 2 months ago. James Royce Edwards played the role for 6 weeks, and now one of the guys from the tour is in for 2 weeks.

I don't know who they named because it happened so quickly. I just remember there were 5 finalists and he was the scruffy one.

James Royce moved up from Luke a little while ago to play Matthew for a while, and just left. It's all very confusing.
They didn't even name the guy they picked. They just offered him the role and he was like, "YEAH sure!"
I had no idea why they had that commercial bit in there, or the thing from Ellen's. It would be better if someone FROM Ellen's auditioned, which would tie the different parts in more.

As per the news story on this website, the new Matthew's name is Jason Celaya. He's got a pretty extensive list of regional and T.V. credits--we've probably all seen him on Everwood or something. I'm interested to see what he brings to the show.
And yes, James' contract for Matthew was for six weeks, but he was signed on to do Altar Boyz as a whole for six months. Now, according to his website, he's getting ready to make his Broadway debut as Sketch in Hairspray for a short run. I can't wait to see him!

I went to college with Jason Celaya. I don't know him personally but I saw him in a bunch of things, some of which really weren't right for him. He's an alright actor but a great singer and a handsome guy. I think he's perfect for this show.
