New RENT tour Cast for September?

Is there any news on an updated Cast. I know they have been auditioning for a new cast for the tour for a while. So just curious if anyone knows anything since the new cast is suppose to continue the tour starting in Sept. Thanks!

Nothing's been officially announced yet. They are still in the process of determining who is staying and who is not.

I just saw the tour was coming to my city in December but i'm hesitant to get tickets considering last time I read reviews of this current tour, it was horrible...i wonder when they'll announce the new cast?

Well, there's our resident bww member who takes every opportunity to trash this tour but overall, reviews have been very positive for this group. One cast member tends to get negative reviews, Arianda Fernandez, but even she has her fans in various cities. If you want to read a variety of reviews of the tour since it started in February, your best bet is to visit CB.

I wouldn't be hesitant to buy tickets for this tour at all. It's a great group of very talented young performers, and the best overall performance of the show by a Rent tour in many years.

I haven't seen the current tour, so I can't really give an opinion, but I still think the tour with Andy Meeks & Dan Rosenbaum was one of the best tours in a long, long time.

I saw Dan and Andy's leg of the tour several times, and I've seen this year's even more!, and there's no doubt in my mind that this year's is stronger overall. Last year's had several weak links unfortunately, and they seem to have done a great job this year in finding amazingly talented kids, with really only one questionable casting decision, in my opinion. Two people who I know who have worked with each non-Equity cast also think that this year's is the best group they've had yet. In any case, I always think it's a good idea for people to judge for themselves and not to rely on one or two bad reviews to discourage them from attending. That's why I suggested going to CB and reading reviews from various people in various cities. :)

I saw them very early on in the tour and despite the Mimi's singing issues (which for me were only a problem on Out Tonight and Another Day) the cast was amazing and put on a great show! Granted things change and what not but I really didn't see what everyone was ripping on the tour for. I thought everyone fit their role perfectly and had so much energy.

Well i know they had an open call a few weeks back and bernard telsey has been calling people in for the tour for about a month. My friend went to the open call and on the paper you put all your info on for the casting people...it said that rehearsals were starting in a few weeks and that the the "new" cast would start performing in Sept. And the open call was in the begining of July. It just seems that it is taking a while for them to make decisions for replacements. And according to them the rehearsals should be well underway. Who knows? Thanks all for responding!--

I was recently made aware by my friend on tour that the "Season of Love Soloist" is cast. Her name is Mimi Jimenz I saw a tape of her in the recent Asian Tour of "Grease" as the Teen Angel and she is amazing. A really strong high belt!

Jenny, Altamiece's situation was different. Her last show was tonight in San Francisco. The rest of the cast is contracted through September 17.

Are all of you too young to have seen the early Equity tours which FAR exceeded talent and quality. What happened to the days when Saycon Sengbloh was Mimi and Cary Shields was Roger and Norbert Leo Butz was Roger. THOSE were the good tours.

Bdwy24, way to make assumptions. I have seen every touring cast in North America so I guess that makes me ancient at 22. This latest leg of the non-Equity tour has an excellent group of talented young actors. If you didn't enjoy them, then that's a shame because the majority of fans who have seen them have loved the show. They have also introduced thousands of new fans to the stage show and have done a good job at it. I'm not saying they're better than any particular Equity tour but they are just as compelling and they tell the story of Rent very well and that's what counts.

It's actually funny that you've compared them to the excellence of Cary, Saycon, and Norbert. Cary had one of the worst records for attendance and dedication on tour and he's one of the few to have been fired from the Broadway show. Saycon, although I loved her as Mimi, had many detractors when she was on tour, and Norbert, well, Norbert wasn't even in a tour of Rent! Perhaps you're thinking of his tour as the Emcee.

I didn't make assumptions. I was just thinking of the great equity actors who once played the roles. Just no mention of them. I had no problem with the non eq cast. Just no mention of the Equity actors that once did the show. A little suprised.

Bdway24, I also loved the tour that Saycon was a part of.
And Erinrebecca-no need to get all defensive, I myself was not "talking trash" about the tour, simply commenting on the fact that MANY reviews on this board of the current tour have been bad, and asking for clarification on the new cast because no one wants to spend a hundred bucks on a ticket if it's going to be a bad show. :)
