Currently being played by Carrie Manolakos, who is doing an amazing job BTW, but does anyone know who is due up to replace her? From what I have heard a new Sophie is due in early September(not sure when though)?
Sad to see Carrie go. She has done an amazing job filling in for Carrie Anderson and I believe she deserves to remain with the cast. Hopefully she will be back on Broadway again soon.
Thanks in advance for any info!
I never realized that Manolakos had such a short contract with Mamma Mia. I think that when she is done Manolakos would have been with the Broadway company 4 months. I would have though that she would stay longer considering that this is her Broadway debut.
Apparently, the new Sophie will be...
*drumroll*
Allison Case! (yay)
Really, that would be the only reason I'd ever see Mamma Mia again. She's supposed to start on September 24th. And, I really don't have a source other than Facebook and playbill.com listing her credits as "Allison Case (Hair, Mamma Mia)". But I really, really hope it's true, since I've been obsessing over her since I saw Hair.
Carrie Manolakas was only brought in to complete Carey Anderson's contract. I can't remember the name of the actress taking over the part but I know she's a redhead.
Allison Case of HAIR will indeed be taking over for Carrie. I, for one, am thrilled. Her performance in Central Park was the highlight of the evening for me. She reminded me very much of the first time I saw Celia Keenan-Bolger onstage. A sweet silver voice an brimming with vulnerability. I wasn't able to catch Carrie as Sophie in MAMMA MIA, but after seeing a few clips of her wailing on youtube, I would be shocked if we didn't see her back on the boards very soon. She may even be leaving to do something else.
I didn't know Carie Anderson left her contract early to do Avenue Q. I was under the impression that she had left to do Q because her contract was up.
Jesus, CateBroadway, are you me? Seriously, I love Celia Keenan-Bolger so much that words can't express it, and while watching Hair, I kept thinking that Allison Case gave off the exact same feeling and energy. (Translation: I couldn't keep my eyes off Allison Case for the rest of the show after "Frank Mills". I missed some of the plot because of it.) 24 hours later, I love Allison Case. Damn it. I have to pay more than 1/4 price to see a show now...
Oh, and I always find myself humming "Frank Mills", which turns into "Changing" from Saved which turns into "Oscar and Alfons" from Harris Burdock, because the songs and the people who sing them are just to freakin' similiar. Arrgh.
Damn. She was adorable in HAIR but there is no way I'm seeing Mamma Mia.
Winston- Carey Anderson's contract was not up until Sept or Oct.
