New Spring Awakening Article#1

Posted: 12/20/06 at 10:49pm

There's a new Spring Awakening Article in the New York Post today that mentions my review of said show. Although my name is spelled wrong and is referenced in a slightly condescening manner, I still think it's pretty cool.
Here it is

Michael Reidel is a dick.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

That condom idea is genius. If it were true, I would buy a batch and pass them out at high school sex-ed classes.

whaat?? I don't care how green you are, no one would suggest trumping up college review quotes in lieu of the raves that established critics have given the show. That comment in particular strikes me as untrue, taken out of context, or maliciously manipulated (no offense to you, Character Actor). It just makes me wonder how accurate everything else is. I know that whenever I brainstorm with a bunch of people, there are ideas which come out jokingly or ideas that were never going to be implemented seriously.

Character Actor, did the production contact you to review the show? Because if so, I think using the colleges as an avenue to get the word out to a younger audience is just SMART. I don't know why other Broadway shows don't do it more often.

The show contacted the paper, and I jumped at the opportunity to see/review it.

If you would like to read my review just click the link :)

I've also reviewed the History Boys film, and Infamous (the so-called OTHER Truman Capote movie)

That's not a very smart review, although one
must consider the source. Hofstra is, well, you
know...and Conn College ain't
x-actly Yale.

ew...Nick, that was so uncalled for. I went and read all of the posts you've posted on this bulletin board and you never have anything good to say. So, from now on, I'm ignoring all of your posts. John--I really enjoyed reading your review. Thanks for posting it, man, and congrats on the exposure your review received!

Of course SA should have a tie-in with condom ads. You always have to resort to sex when you've got nothing else to sell.

condoms would be a cool idea and it isnt that difficult to get some sort of tie-in with colleges. I know NYU has a ticket central with a weekly eblast where they list tickets they have for sale, sometimes simply promoting a shows rush policy- not to mention Avenue Q just had a talk back type thing with NYU too. Maybe their flyer should include some of the things Melchiors document is meant to have in it.

You need a pretty big dick to get the full name of the show on a condom. I'm just sayin'...

Good point. How about Spring Awakening soap-on-a-rope? Sorta like Irish Spring.
