I wonder if "Rod's Dilemma" would have sneaked under these new rules? Probably, but it may have been a little close.

Posted: 3/10/06 at 6:52pmTotally! But those spoof posters they made for the other shows were SO funny and heartwarming! I loved them.

In 2004, everyone and their grandmother was expecting Wicked to win the Tony Award for Best Musical, even though most critics predicted a Wicked win with the clause that it was only because of finantial reasons, and that the deserving show was either Avenue Q or Caroline, Or Change. So the authors of Avenue Q, being their clever, witty selves, wrote and recorded a song with the characters from Avenue Q called "Rod's Dilemma," where Rod had to choose who to vote for for Rotary Club President: the rich one, the cute one, or the popular one (I don't remember about the last one, actually). But all of the others tell him to "Vote Your Heart." It's quite funny, actually, and I believe you can listen to it on the Avenue Q website.
It may have limboed under this rule, though since they never actually say it straight nor do they actually say anything against the other canidates: Wicked or the rich guy. Of course, it's no secret what they're talking about, especially when the backround singers come in singing "Avenue Q."

Posted: 3/11/06 at 10:54amLet's not forget that Q also promised all the touring Tony voters that it was going to go on tour and, after it had won the award, they announced they had lied and weren't actually going to tour, just have a shortened and watered down Las Vegas production (Which I believe just closed or is getting ready to).
