As long as we're making the Tony's even longer, how about an award for Best BC/EFA After Show Speech. The best I've seen is Doug Sills and Terrence Mann after Pimpernel. I don't even remember what they did, just that I laughed heartily and felt compelled to donate more.

There should be an award for Best Sound Design, which is a completely underappreciated art form. The Drama Desks and Lucille Lortel Awards already recognize it and it's about time the Tonys did so as well.

I said it before and I'll keep saying until I'm blue in the face..........They should have NEVER taken away the Musical Director award and they SHOULD reinstate it again, as an honored category. If our work as Musical Directors can be reviewed/critiqued (and it always is), then we should have the opportunity to be awarded just like everyone else.

Best Ensemble most definitely should be a category!!!
I also think that best script for a play is missing. I mean, the Oscars hand out awards for Best Screenplay in addition to Best Movie; why can't the Tony Awards do the same with best new script and best new play?

They need to go back to how the TONY's were pre-1971, before the Best Music and Best Lyrics TONYs were combined into the Best Score TONY. Both are seperate art forms and should be awarded separetley.

There is best script in the Tonys. The script in theatre is the book. Hence how Avenue Q won Best Book for a Musical.

If there was for best Understudy/Standby it should have gone to Eden Espinosa.

Roddick specifically mentioned "script for a play," not a musical. There were separate awards for Best Play, Best Author of a Play and Best Producer of a play for a year back around 1965, but then when each of those awards went to different plays, in order to avoid further confusion, it was decided to collapse the three into a single award, Best Play, which honors, the producers and the playwright.

ohh, you beat me to it! i was gonna say that i was absolutely be rooting for Eden if there was a best standy-by/understudy catagory.
