has anyone ever thought of a black glinda?

shes in there for like, 8 seconds, but still...is it too far fetched? i mean, fyero, the wizard, morrible, dr. dillamond, and elphaba have been black before....

Actually, Morrible and Dillamond haven't been black. The tour is getting a black Morrible.

It would be strange with the whole "blonde" thing. But, in Japan she has a wig, and the audience doesn't make a big deal when Erufaba says "burondo".

Dioni, LA Morrible understudy is black. There WAS a black Dr. D.

the la understudy is black as defyinggravity07 says, and there was a black dr. dillamond in chicago...and he was full time

ANY nationality can play Elphaba there is NO SUCH THING as green people. The only way you will see a different nationality Glinda if there are only few white people where ever the production is.

You mean ethnicity. Nationalities are like American, Canadian, British. You can be an American with a different ethnicity. Eden Espinosa is an American, but her ethnicity is Chicano. I am American (nationality), but I am Russian (ethnicity) with a bit of Romanian mixed in.

but I agree with what you said. Elphaba should always be a color-blind role. Some roles shouldn't be, but I agree, there are no green people so people of all different ethnic backgrounds should be considered for that role.

In the Tokyo production of Wicked, Elphaba doesn't say 'blonde', she says 'Bakka', which means stupid/dumb. The 'dumb blonde' joke doesn't translate.
