New Wicked Cast Announced from 11 May

NEW STARS ANNOUNCED!

It's soon to be a new Term at Shiz University, and we are thrillifyed to announce some of our very special new arrivals!

Sam Kelly is to be our brand new Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Natalie Anderson will be Nessarose from Monday 11 May 2009. We are also very proud to welcome back the incredible Alexia Khadime as Elphaba.

Since the early seventies, Sam Kelly has been one of the UK's best-loved and most popular actors. His many long-running television series have included Porridge with Ronnie Barker; 'Allo, 'Allo with Gorden Kaye; On The Up with Dennis Waterman and Barbara with Gwen Taylor. His National Theatre appearances include The Homecoming with Michael Sheen, War and Peace, Pericles and A Funny Thing Happen On The Way To The Forum.

Natalie Anderson is best known as 'Nurse Stella Davenport' in ITV's The Royal, a role she has been playing since 2004. She also starred in the BBC children's television drama series The Biz with Paul Nicholls. Her album 'Return To Me' was released last year and her single 'Did I' is now available.

STAYING FOR ANOTHER TERM

Dianne Pilkington (Glinda), Oliver Tompsett (Fiyero), Harriet Thorpe (Madame Morrible), Ashleigh Gray (Standby for Elphaba) and Sarah Earnshaw (Standby for Glinda) are all staying with us for another term.

PROMOTED NEXT TERM

Two of our current ensemble cast members, Alex Jessop and David Stoller, are being promoted next term. Alex will take over the role of Boq and David will be Doctor Dillamond .

A FOND FAREWELL

We will bid farewell to 3 of our original cast members on Saturday 9 May - Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Caroline Keiff (Nessarose) and Andy Mace (Doctor Dillamond) - who will all be flying out of Oz. Desmond Barrit (The Wizard) and Jeremy Legat (Boq) will also depart that night. They have all been incredible and will be much missed by all the Citizens of Oz.

Oh, I'm really pleased to hear that Ashleigh is staying on :)

Who are Sam Kelly and Natalie Anderson?

Why oh why is Oli Tompsett staying? He's been there since day 1, in October 2006!!

WOO HOO!

This is incredible!! Ashleigh Gray, Dianne Pilkington and Harriet Thorpe staying, David Stoller and Alex Jessop moving up, Alexia Khadime coming back, Sam Kelly as the Wizard (inspired!), Kerry Ellis going into retirement, Jeremy Legat just going somewhere else... so much to be happy about!

A bit rubbish that Caroline Keiff's going, and a new Fiyero would have been nice but, on the whole, the news is awesome!!

All great except for Fiyero, ive never liked Olivers performance, nice voice but such wooden acting and always looks awkward. Agree the rest of the cast is great

Haven't seen Alexia yet, is she worth return for after May 9?

I'm planning to go May 9 as well as a few days before to get signatures in my programme - the stage door on the final show will be insane!!

I know that but I was kinda hoping for some of his background, maybe a pic and whether people think he is a good pick for the role. Not being from the UK, I'd never heard of him before today.

Alexia's brilliant. Her last performance was insanely good... she vamped it up and riffed like she was on Broadway. She's actually not very well suited to Pilkington because she looks very young, but their voices sound great together. I'm so glad they're bringing her back, but I'm really happy Ashleigh Gray's staying as well.

Re Oli - he is a great singer, and not too bad to look at, but his portrayl of the role is just boring for me. He's wooden and looks bored up there.

I much preferred Rob Mills who plays the role in Melbourne - he was really good looking, a great singer and brought an unexpected depth to the role.

Am excited to see Alexia and Dianne, as well as Alexia and Sarah at some time or another ... I've seen both Dianne and Sarah with both Kerry and Ashleigh so I'd like to compare.

We need a GOOD Fiyero, Oliver is dull, and not the strongest actor in the world, Adam Garcia was completely over rated! So, why cant he go and we get a new one!

Not to bothered bout Dianne, she is good, I would like to see a new Galinda, but I am happy with her!

I really liked Adam as Fiyero, he may have been a bit weak vocally (which is odd as in On The Town he really wasnt) but he has stage presence, can act and has personality, plus sex appeal! But I actually cant think of anyone who would make a good Fiyero

I was surprised that Oli and Dianne have decided to stay - I guess new roles weren't as fruitful as they had hoped?

Kerry, Oli and Dianne are probably my favourite leading trio, but I completely agree that Oli is all vocals and tends to be awkward looking - Dancing Through Life for instance.

I would have though it would be better to get a new Fiyero. That way a new, fresh faced component could be added to a well practiced but not tired Alexia and a Wicked veteran in Dianne. Plus, it would be beneficial to phase out the old and bring in the new cast, instead of scaring off the fans with an abrupt change?
