I think I'm posting this in the right section. I am going to New York (as a gift from my employers), and I think it will have to be some time after the end of November. How is New York in December? I'd rather go in warmer weather, but I also want to go as soon as I can (It's been too long!). How are the prices for things such as hotels? Any thoughts on if this is a bad or good idea?

If you can possibly wait until after the holidays, I would do that. Between Thanksgiving and New Years everything is at a premium. Hotels are more expensive, theatre discount codes dry up due to the increased tourism and places are generally packed because it is colder outside. January and February is a ghostown and you can get super deals. Just my opinion. I've gone in January and February and had a great time.

I guess it depends on why you're going. If you are going to experience Christmas in New York, then you will love it. I go every December around Dec 12-20, and have a great time. Yes, there are more crowds and hotels will be more expensive. But if you do your research on hotels online, you can find some great deals and you can always do show lotteries, rush and TKTS to see several shows at good prices. If money is most important, waiting a few weeks until January will be a smart move.

If seeing shows NY is a priority, doing so in January and February is usually a piece of cake, as long as you don't mind missing the actual holidays. I'd prefer going after New Year's if I were you, mainly because there aren't so many darn tourists to the point where it takes 10x as long to get places in midtown.
