News on new MAME movie

Just read a blurb in this week's Enquirer (I know, not the most reliable source) that Queen Latifah is very interested in a new screen adaptation of Mame. Actually, I can see here pulling it off. Discuss.........

I think Mame starring Cher is a done deal. I don't think Queen Latifah has the finesse to pull it off.

I think Cher has the perfect air of sophistication with a dash of joie de vivre for the role. I hope she gets it.

obviously, this is not serious.......the charachter of Mame cannot be a black woman without significant changes to the plot......it has been announced that Cher is attached to a tv film of Mame being exec produced by Streisand.

when is this movie being made? and it's a TV movie? and when does it air? and PLEASE tell me its not on cable...lol. but i guess she has to finish her farewell tour before anything can be done...i wonder what hair color she'll be in as mame...i'm kidding. i think she'll be absolutely fabulous.

Cher finishes the north american leg of her extremely succesful farewell tour late October. I do know she is commited for Mame but it will be interesting to see when it gets done. She "supposively" embarks on the European leg of this tour early next year. If you have not seen this concert live and you are able to attend one of her remaining dates...GO! It is a wonderful concert and she puts on one hell of a show.

Through my TV sources (and I actually have them), I hear MAME is on the back-burner. I'd be very surprised if this actually comes to pass.

Streep would be a great ANYTHING!! I also think Goldie Hawn would be a delightful, madcap MAME!

Actually; the north american leg of her tour closes Halloween in Toronto. I believe the tour begins its European leg in February.

The more I hear about the MAME TV movie the more I'm convinced it won't happen - with Cher or anybody.
