Here's Alex Murphy's review of Next to Normal which opened at The Kennedy Center tonight. I'd love to hear from other people who were there tonight on press night.

I agree that the sound mixing for the Kennedy Center felt "subdued." It was the first time seeing the production where I felt disconnected from the stage and the actors. I certainly heard far less sniffles and audible sobs from the audience in the Kennedy Center than any other time I saw the show at the Booth. The Rock aspect of the musical was definitely reduced to a Adult Contemporary sound level at Kennedy.
