I know the creators said that they wanted to do FAME next, which I think could be a hoot but I'd kinda prefer more of a SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER or a GREASE

Not to be a killjoy, but I feel like we need a bit more of a definition as to what you mean by “jelliclize”. In my mind, that cue the idea of doing a “ballroom” version of a musical as opposed to simply a radically rethought and re-choreographed vision for a show using only the skeleton of it.

If it is the former, then I would hesitate to put most other shows writ large through such a conceptualization. TJB works in part because it has been carefully crafted by a whole team and has significant buy-in from the ballroom community. The latter being important because it’s a space that was created away from mainstream society out of necessity and self-preservation and so co-opting it for mostly white musicals is culturally questionable. It’s worth noting that there is still some backlash against PARIS IS BURNING, POSE, and even Madonna’s “Vogue” by the ballroom community because of the white lens it’s framed through.

While not intending to start a discourse, the shows you suggested really made me want to seek clarification and hit the pause button. We don’t want to cheapen the triumph of TJB by applying that formula to just any musical.
