Let's predict the next musical-turned-movies!
Avenue Q (maybe like a sitcom would be great! Like a demented half hour of Seseme Street gone bad!
42nd Street (I smell a TV movie!)
Spamalot
Hey maybe even Wicked, although I'm against the idea...

Avenue Q was originally workshopped to be a television show, but Seller saw it and thought it could be made into a musical. The original only had about 6 songs in it too.
42nd Street was already a movie musical, and after Rent I'm hoping that it's going to be The Producers, because its so funny.
I can actaully see Hairspray as a movie. Like, a newer Grease thing, you know?
But I think Light in the Piazza could make for a really amazing movie.....

Wan't there mention of a Sunset Boulevard movie? Like, a new one? I hope!

The Producers is being filmed as we speak, and Spamalot IS a movie. HEy, wouldn't it be cool if they did, like, an animated version of Beauty and the Beast or maybe even the Lion King? I bet that would work pretty well.
SHUT UP (lol) I know Spamalot is a movie, but it's not a MUSICAL. Hehe

Yeah. I still can't believe that over 80% of the musical was directly form the musical. But hey, it was hilarious.
This thread hurts my head.
Case in point: "I still can't believe that over 80% of the musical was directly form the musical."

Oh wow. Whoops. I think you know what I mean. A great amount of the musical's dialogue was ver batim from the MOVIE. There we go. hahaha
My predictions:
I bet we'll see a movie of RENT really soon. It would be cool if it came out before Thanksgiving... of course...who knows, this is just a predicition.
I also foresee perhaps a movie musical of the Producers...maybe around Christmas.
I think it would be a great idea if "they" started toying around with the idea of doing Dreamgirls, Hairspray and Sunset Blvd. Dont quote me on it....these, after all, are just predictions.
It's RENT and THE PRODUCERS for 2005 on the big screen, and MUPPETS' WIZARD OF OZ, REEFER MADNESS, and ONCE UPON A MATTRESS on television.
Next year we have DREAMGIRLS, ASPHALT BEACH, and HAIRSPRAY (90%) on the big screen.
The following year will be BAT BOY (50%) & SWEENEY TODD (50%)
Yeah Adam Chris I thinktheyshould try to finally tackle "Dreamgirls" as it is long overdue.
I mean, anything's possible, right?
i also predict (with the help of my magic 8 ball) that they'll probably pack DREAMGIRLS with a bunch of hollywood stars... like say....beyonce or eddie murphy or jamie foxx. but then again... i could be wrong.
this is just a prediction!

Adam Chris, you should copyright your thoughts!
well, i cant take all the credit.... my 8 ball helped.
hint: if you shake it enought times you can get it to agree with you on almost anything
do they have a date for Once Upon a Mattress yet?
musicalmjk, "please try again later"

Well, once your movie becomes a hit, you can split the money with the magic 8 ball. What does it say about me marrying Ewan McGregor or Gerard Butler?
I don't see them casting Beyoncé at all in the role of "Deena", that was be like, just so wrong.
I vote for Raven Symone.
Haha. We should just be happy with each movie-musical as they come and never expect another one after it. They can be pretty rare and we wouldnt want to jinx anything! Besides, there is always talk and then 10 years later a movie comes out - hopefully. I mean, we heard about the Phantom movie for AGES - Rent as well.
amen, act4ever. fun to complain about them, but really... i'll see everyone of them and buy the dvd. :)
