The three previews posted on the official site (I Am the One, Superboy/Invisible Girl and I'm Alive) as well as three other song previews; I've Been, I Miss the Mountains and Just Another Day; have been posted. None of them are the full versions but for a couple (specifically I Am the One and I Miss the Mountains) they are almost full versions.
Just a reminder. Album is available in theatre on April 7th and according to Amazon it will have an official release of May 18th.
Amazon has it listed as regularly 18.98 which makes me think its not going to be 2 discs, especially since In the Heights (also sh-k-boom) is listed at 21.99 regularly (discounted to 16.99) but sh-k-boom's site has ITH for 16.99 too. so it may still be 2discs.
Anyway, just wanted post this since they're all in the same place (i know someone had posted links to three other previews but I thought it'd be nice to let people know they're all in the same place.

KingKong ~ Question about the album in theatre... I know the things I read said digital download is out April 7, and I thought I'd seen it would be in theatre then, but I have not found it in writing since then. Do we have written confirmation that it will be in theatre then?

Third paragraph, first sentence "The Ghostlight Records cast recording of Next to Normal will be available for digital download and in the lobby of the Booth Theatre starting Tuesday, April 7."
That's the only place I've seen it.

well, thank you. That's good to know.
Does anyone know when it will be available to preorder from Sh-k-boom? I usually like to order from them but there doesn't seem to be anything up yet and it looks like I'll end up getting it from iTunes (or from the theater?)
Thanks KingKong ~ I knew I'd seen it somewhere but couldn't find it again.
I guess I'll go to the theater that night to get the CD, even though it will eventually be much cheaper on Amazon. I don't want to download it, because I want to get whatever booklet and packaging it has.
Hey guys - the CD is definitely a double-disc as there is probably 90 minutes of music and 37 tracks. (I put the track list up on the sh-k-blog)
I'll let you know when you can pre-order CDs!

That fade in Just Another Day sounds mighty weird. They also did some tempo changes; not sure how I feel about them. And Ripley was DEFINITELY holding back some of her gusto.

Yeah, thanks for the info kate. But that is one thing I HATE about recordings of Musicals that are almost completely sung through, a lot of times the dialogue in the songs gets cut and the final product ends up sounding really weird and if that jump in the middle of Just Another day from "what doesn't kill me..." to the overlapping "it only hurts.." i'm gonna be mighty disappointed.

If that is the final mix of "Just Another Day," I'm going to be a bit disappointed as well. No reason to have a truncated version if it is on two discs, but also, the mix itself sounds messy as hell in the latter part.
I just went to look at the track listing on the SKB blog and, wow, I'm really behind on the news of this show - I didn't know they had cut "Growing Up Unstable." That makes two Natalie songs (the other being "Blue Skies") out of my original favorite four in the show that have been cut since NYMF. Course, I also realize that I am in the minority to preferring the NYMF version of Natalie (as well as the NYMF cast as a whole, especially Spangler to Ripley).
But that's enough negativity from me. I still adore the show and am counting the days until I get to see its latest incarnation.

Yeah, Growing Up Unstable didn't survive the move to Arena. Blue Skies was a great song, but clearly with the new direction of the show it wasn't usable any longer.

I don't buy that. Natalie's love interest is still a druggie and she still gravitates towards drugs to escape her life (unless these things have changed since 2nd Stage), which is what the song is about, so I don't see how "Blue Skies" doesn't fit in with the post-NYMF versions of the show.

The song has no place in the show anymore. First, it was the intro of Tweak (now henry) and Natalie and it came near the end of the first act, they now meet about 8 minutes into the show. Second, the type of rebellion that NYMF Natalie goes through and Current Natalie go through are COMPLETELY different. NYMF natalie was a MUCH darker character thatn Current Natalie. NYMF Natalie was a teenager in need of an intervention, she was cutting herself, she HATED her family from the beginning with a passion, and as she said herself "why does everyone think i'm on drugs, just because I'm a bitch" before Growing Up Unstable (NYMF). She was an angry, dark child. The Current Natalie is more lost and confused and her path to drugs is more of a reaching out for what ever she can grab onto to feel like she has control of something, plus, the drugs that NYMF natalie used were substantially more hardcore than Current Natalie. During Feeling Electric when she says she's on EKG, which is Ecstasy, Ketamine and GHB, she's basically her own one woman rave in the desert, where as Current Natalie is popping mood stabalizers and drinking Robatussin. The character of natalie is completely different to how it was 4 years ago. I agree that some GREAT songs were lost between NYMF and 2ST, some truly beautiful songs (specifically Electricity, the wedding vow song that Dan sang during the flashback sequence). they have tried (at least it seems like a conscious effort) to integrate a number of the cut songs in different ways. The new beginning of Just another Day has aspects of So Many Ways to die (which i loved), the music from Electricity has been used to underscore some of the scenes in the current show.

I'm definitely excited for this! To hell with waiting for the retail release, I'm downloading this off of iTunes!
"Wish I Were Here" really combines the best aspects of emotion from "Feeling Electric" AND "Growing Up Unstable". But in a much more solid song.

Does anyone else think Bobby Spencer's voice sounds really computerized in I am the One?
I'm missing the dialogue too. Maybe they figure that if they include it, people won't bother to see the show? There aren't many book scenes as it is.

I've heard several of the cut songs in Next To Normal, including 'growing up unstable' and 'feeling electric' and really don't like any of them. I mean, I love Asa and Anthony's delivery of FE, but I just don't think there's much in the song at all. I have yet to hear the new song.
Playbill also has the track list. Will it still be available at the theater on April 8?

Sorry to change the topic but I heard Phoebe Strole was involved with N2N at some point as Natalie...can anyone confirm this?
She did a reading... one of the ones that was right before the 2nd Stage production.

I dont think the voice sounds computerized, but there are a few brief moments of that have the hideous cher "do you believe in love" effect, whether thats just bad mixing or damaged files idk, but its pretty dirty.
Hearing these things are making me nervous about this recording.

I think I'm going to hold off until I see the show before I get the recording, so I don't prejudge the new songs/actors.
