Nicole mulls PHILADELPHIA STORY (yawn)

Am I the only one who finds this an unexciting prospect for Kidman (and us)? Is the Barry piece really worth a fresh spin at this point? (the Danner revival was majorly lackluster, as was a musicalization that lasted 20 minutes.) After BLUE ROOM, when her tail lights made the bigger impression, it would be nice to have Kidman carry a show. But for the hundred smackers we'll have to plunk down, I'd rather see her in something new -- or if a revival, a role with a bit of an edge. Maybe something like David Hare's PLENTY.

Hmmm I'm not really sure what you're talk about with Philadelphia Story, is there an article somewhere?
Plus, I really do not know when she would do it. I know for a fact that she has 6 films in which she has a starring role in production and being released in the nest 2 years, between shooting, junkets and all that, plus her well known loyalty to her children I'd be surprised if she decided to sign up for something new right now, with all the projects she is already committed.

random nicole story: i heard her talk once about how she always get nervous before going to start production for a film and she'll call and try to get out of it (but in the end, she doesn't). for example, for the others, she called the production company to pull out of the role, and suggested julianne moore for the role (pre-the hours) but ms moore was shooting hannibal at the time.

Ms. Kidman actually had no choice but to leave Panic Room after getting injured on the set on Moulin Rouge. It wasn't "reportedly for health reasons", I believe she broke a rib lines because I heard that they actually had to shoot some of the Moulin Rouge scenes from the waist up only because she couldn't stand up for awhile.
In Panic Room, if you listen closely in the movie, when Jodie Foster calls her husband for help and his new wife/girlfriend answers the phone, it's actually Nicole's voice.
As for In the Cut, I never heard she was going to be in it (not that I'm saying you're wrong) but she DID actually produce the movie.
I got the whole "six movies in 2 years" figure from a recent article/interview with Ms. Kidman. In addition to the work on set that she will be doing, she's also going to be learning Russian and to ply the cello for an upcoming role. Doesn't really leave time for much else, does it?
I also recall in an interview around the time The Hours came out that both she and Julianne Moore commented that they were very interested in doing more theatre (Julianne having done some when she was younger), but since they both have small children, they would rather spend time with their kids.
So, I don't know...maybe it'll happen, but I really don't see how, unless the producers of Philadelphia Story don't mind waiting until she's completed all of the films has yet to finish.

i dunno, that role is SO ruthless. kate burton was wonderful in that role, in my opinion. hard to believe someone that could play such a cruel character....but i guess that's what makes a good actor, right?

LOL. This is what happens when you read about 5 different industry papers/magazine every week. One complaint my mother always had was that I could rattle off any kind of entertainment news, yet I refused to remember school work. Selective learning, I suppose. :)

She would be excellent in Doll's House, no doubt. She is doing a lot of drama lately, with the exception of The Stepford Wives, maybe she'll do something lighter next but I doubt it. She likes dramas. Same with Julianne Moore, she usually tries to work on projects that will make people think after the movie is over (if anyone saw Far From Heaven or The Hours, maybe you know what I mean). But even she does a comedy once in awhile.
This may sound silly, but I could see Ms. Kidman do a remake of a Grace Kelly movie, she definately has the look and IMO Grace Kelly was a wonderful actress who never really got to show the world her full potential. Not too long ago, some would say Ms. Kidman was in the same position, except that she finally got to show everyone how talented she really is.
