Was saddened to see this section cut from the new WSS, but shocked to see that apparently Robbins also cut it from "Jerome Robbins' Broadway"!

That was how Laurents pushed this through. The cut version was the one McNeely learned on Jerome Robbins' Broadway.
However, that was for a concert version, in which the Utopian vision of the Dream is enough. Robbins would NEVER have cut it for the production, in which the Dream must be ended by its eventual Nightmare.
I can guarantee you that Jerome Robbins is rolling in his grave, ruing the day he ever cut that Nightmare and cursing Arthur Laurents for taking advantage of the situation.
Searched youtube for a complete version of the ballet and found that most productions cut the Nightmare section. The one that maintained it was pretty unwatchable.
Anyone have a link to a complete video? Now I really want to see it...

This is probably just me, but I'd be more upset about dying then people desecrating choreography that everyone knows I had no say in... since I died and all.
Robbins would be more upset about Arthur winning.

And yeah, remember Robbins did it for a Suite of dances in Jerome Robbisn Broadway. it should be pointe dout in the West Side Story Suite that New York City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada all do (among others) tghe Nightmare IS in.
