For those in LA, Doma Theatre Company are doing the musical Nine for the months of July / August. Saw there production of Avenue Q which I really enjoyed, and since Nine really gets produced. Just wanted to give a shout out.
Before some one screams Shrill, I have nothing to do with the company, just wanted to pass the information on.

Seeing this around the end of its run in early August.

Posted: 6/29/13 at 12:27pmThat poster is so good! Love it. However, the promo made it seem like they are using the movie as some sort of model for the production, which I guess is okay but doesn't work that much for me. Also, I like my Seraghina to be played by a full-bodied actress. I love this show though and would love to see how some productions are staging it after the film, hope people who go see it report back.

The promo was added after I brought a ticket and of course not making a judgement on that clip alone. I was hoping it might have been more a non movie based approach.
But to see and hear this score sung live is worth what ever they wanna do with it

I've never seen it live, only some clips from the Broadway productions, but I've listened to both albums almost on a weekly basis for years now. It's just such a beautiful, entertaining, haunting score. The Tony clip with Kathi Moss is one of my all time favorites, definitely let us know what you think when you go see it.

NINE is wonderfully theatrical live. I'm not sure I like this "movie" approach to it.
Where are the boys and the tambourines and a "substantial" Saraghina?
I guess they want that Victoria's Secret or "Chicago revival" look.
I hope somebody stages "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof" the same way.

Posted: 6/29/13 at 1:35pm"Be Italian" looked spectacular on film, but in the promo it plays like a cheap ripoff, not to mention the compositions and moves directly ripped from "Mein Herr" in the CABARET film. Maybe this is just the way they are promoting the show and not necessarily the way they'll stage the number(s).

I want other shows staged this way, too!
"I feel all the time like a cat on a hot tin roof!"
"Then jump off the roof, Maggie. Jump off it."
