To each his own. I happen to find his voice very soothing. I've never heard of Ms. Beechman so I can't comment.

Unfortunately, Laurie passed away a few years ago. She had an amazing voice and is sorely missed.
I'll go to bat for Laurie Beechman any day. She grew up in a neighboring town of mine and became a big "star" on Broadway. A favorite of many, including ALW. She was endlessly generous and moved people with her enthusiam and spirit.
Her voice was a treasure! I had the pleasure of seeing her final show, Les Mis in Philly, months before her untimely death with ovarian cancer. THE most heart wrenching Fantine I've ever experienced. Songwriter David Friedman collaborahted with Laurie to create" Listen To My Heart" one of many great CD's.
http://www.lauriebeechman.com has a guest list volume of praises. If I could bring 10 people back, she's be one.
I have to admit, Michael Crawford has and always will be my Broadway idol! I know that there are many mixed opinions on the subject, but to me Michael Crawford is an amazing performer whose performance skills are no less than stunning. I personally cannot wait to see Michael in another project, and I hope it will be soon. I am only 16 years old, but please don't criticize my reply because you think I am too young or inexpirienced in theatre. I have seen Michael Crawford perform several times, and have also met and spoken with him. He is is an extremely nice person who loves to talk with people, and I enjoyed every minute that I got to talk to him. I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if they weren't then this would be a very boring board, hahaha!!! Anyways, that is just my two cents.
See Ya Later!

BroadwayPhil ......Michael Crawford was in one of the most successful british comedy shows of all time, "Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em" which hasn't been shown in the US on free to air TV. This show at its peak in popularity was pulling in a TV audience of in excesss of 25 million in the UK alone( this is before taking into consideration its popularity in other countries like OZ) , and his character "Frank Spenecer" to this day remains one of the most impersonated characters from TV, indeed here in Ausrtralia he is known more as Frank Spencer then the Phantom :) And no one can spin a story like Mr Crawford can.
Bonnie in Oz
Good info Bonnie. Surprised at the lack of credits in the DOTV playbill for Crawford. I of course knew of Phantom, and his Concerts, but nothing else.
