Anyone else surprised that no one has really written a super scathing review for Shatner's World?
The show only got a 66 on Curtain Critic but all the reviews are good to decent, nothing terrible. http://www.curtaincritic.com/Shows/SHATNER_S_WORLD__WE_JUST_LIVE_IN_IT_REVIEWS-108.html

Posted: 2/17/12 at 2:57pmMaybe no critics panned it because it doesn't deserve to be panned? The show, while hardly a work of art, is solidly decent, and Shatner has an amiable stage presence.

Posted: 2/17/12 at 3:23pmDefinitely didn't mean I wanted him to get panned - just though it was interesting that this was the first Bway show in a while that seems to have no one publishing a really negative review for it. Even Wit and Porgy, which in general were much better reviewed than Shatner, got a pan or two.

I'm just saying, it's interesting that there's more of a critical consensus for Shatner's World than anything else of late. Every review for Shatner's World on Curtain Critic is between 75 and 50. This is much narrower than all the other recent shows. Wit reviews range between 100 and 30. Road to Mecca between 80 and 30. Porgy between 100 and 10... (this is all going off of http://curtaincritic.com, which aggregates & scores the reviews well i think)

Posted: 2/17/12 at 3:33pmNo, I get it. The idea of a William Shatner solo show on Broadway sounded like a prime opportunity for critics to sharpen their knives and do their worst. It's a pleasant surprise to see it turned out differently.

Posted: 2/17/12 at 8:19pmI understand what you mean. Personally, though, he's always been very likable. And that helps but isn't the only thing; I'm guessing the play itself is decent and a satisfying night out.
