Nathaniel Lawrence Borowitz? NLB for short...

re: Norbert Leo Butz

Well Emcee I take your point. ( Yes I get the reference!) The person I always think of is my "friend" Colin Mochrie. Those of u who have seen him on the "Who's Line" show know he is REknowned for pushing the envelope ( his own remark was "I ve touched people on the show in ways I don't touch my wife!") Yet in his personal life he is one of the quietest & reticent men -friendly & w a good sense of humour but not what most folks expect. And on set I have witnessed this too, a specific actress was doing a hysterical bit about doing a calender of "camel toe" poses. Again she interviews as this slightly distant person. Just my experience.

re: Norbert Leo Butz

Right, I've seen it a lot, too. People who can be so uninhibted on stage, and do so many totally outrageous things, but off-stage, they're much quieter than you'd expect.

re: Norbert Leo Butz

Peter O' Toole was being interviewed on a talk show one evening and he talked about this very subject. He said that he was so painfully shy that he actually fainted one time when he was supposed to be interviewed for a TV show. He said that as long as he could 'hide' behind the personna of a character - BE that character instead of himself, then he was all right. The minute he had to be himself though - he was in misery. He said it took a lifetime to learn to get over it.

re: Norbert Leo Butz

Yes, that's what I mean when I say Norb is not ready yet for the talk show circuit. He has not yet developed that "persona" that sits down tosses "tidbits" into the media maw. I think he will but your righ,t it can take a LONG time.

re: Norbert Leo Butz

Thanks, Emcee. re: Norbert Leo Butz. I NEVER implied to Norbert being my friend, read what I said. I speculated on his personality from the three times that I've met him. Every post of yours, Thesbijean or whatever the hell it is, you are jumping on somebody, most of the times, they didn't even do anything. I simply stated what I noticed about his personality, so did everybody else, no reason to be an arse about it.

re: Norbert Leo Butz

I find that, from my own personal experience... that stage persons tend to be a little shyer. I know that it's different to be onstage as opposed to personally communicating with individuals after the show.

just my perspective... --korenglish

No problem, DRS. re: Norbert Leo Butz

re: Norbert Leo Butz

That's one of the fun things I like about awards shows. Out of those who win, you can tell who's shy or not. Norbert seemed nervous up there making that acceptance speech, though he did a great job - especially since it didn't come off as rehearsed. re: Norbert Leo Butz Of course, I can't even imagine how I'd react if I won a Tony..

re: Norbert Leo Butz

He was an absolute DOLL Saturday night!!! Seems like such a sweet man, who's just oozing with talent/presence!

He drives himself to the theater for the performances? Where does he live?

re: Norbert Leo Butz

ha, I get such a laugh out of those cute pictures of him in the car - I forget where they're from, but they're fun. You know, sunglasses and all.

re: Norbert Leo Butz

does he answer fanmail? i sent him, john, and sherie letters, so i was just wondering...
he's awsome, though! my voice teacher said my voice was just like his, so i guess you could consider him my idol...

re: Norbert Leo Butz

I met him recently in Penn Station (he was with Michele) and he could not have been nicer or more humble. A very kind man with zero inflated ego.

Incidentally, he lives in Maplewood, NJ -- one town over from Millburn where Papermill is located.
