john wanted norbert to win more than he wanted to win... he thanked god, his parents, michelle... he said some nice words to sherie. thanked greg, joanna and sara.. then he praised john lithgow.

Norbert's speech, or what we heard of it:

I feel like crying because when I heard my name, I just got the joke. I just got it. First and foremost I want to thank God, because there is no way that somebody with my name from Stockton, Missouri ends up at Radio City Music Hall holding one of these without some divine intervention. I want to say hello to my daughters, my beautiful daughters, Clare and Maggie, who are my inspiration every night and every day. I love you two so much, and there is no school tomorrow, ok? My parents are here, Norbert and Elaine. Yes, he is the culprit. My best friend Michelle Federer, thank you for making me laugh on the inside again. Ellen Flack, my manager, thank you for believing in me from the beginning. My agents, especially Lindsay Porter and Larry Taub, thank you so much.

Thank you to Marty Bell, a truly compassionate producer who has given me another great part. The Old Globe Theatre, a great regional theater, who gave us a home to create this play. Support regional theatre around the country! To the best cast on Broadway, Sherie Scott, my dear, dear friend, my wonderful scene partner and my life friend. Joanna, Greg, Sara Gettlefinger, and John Lithgow. John, I have one of these and I am honored, but you have what I really want, which is the trust and gratitude of every person in this community. I love you so much.

Yeah, the cut him off, they turned his mic off when he was still talking. He kept going, you could kinda hear him but they turned the music up and his mic off at the end! lol so sad

I also loved the Avenue Q part, "Oh so the internet ISN'T just for porn!"
haha!

Would have been nice if they gave him and extra 15 sec or so, along with the Spamalot people. Cut them off too quick! Seemed kinda rude.

And Norberts hair was combed during the DRS number! Looks better messed up!

Even though they cut Norbert off, it wasn't like it was in the middle of what he was saying. 'I love you so much.' sounded to me like he was finished considering he was talking to/about John Lithgow. BUT! What about that woman from Doubt when they won Best Play? The two others got to speak, and she stepped up to the microphone, and the music started.

I was soooo happy Norbert won! He's been my FAVORITE for many years, and I'm glad he's finally getting all the recognition he's deserved since taking over for Adam in RENT.

I thought his was definetely one of the better speeches of the night, he is so great.

What everyone hasn't been mentioning about the Doubt lady is that what made if funnier and weirder is that the guy who spoke before her was so loud and harsh (he had a really strong NY accent, hehe) that when she went up the contrast was just too much :0)

I must be so way out of the loop but all my friends who were watching with me are too. I thought Norbert was married and had been for many years and it wasn't to MIchelle. What is the story? Divorced and now he and Michelle are together?

((sigh)) gotta love norbie. funny, sexy voice, great actor, sexy voice, all around nice guy. {{swoon}} lol. john gave him the biggest hug when he won. he was so proud of hium, it was so cute! i love how john wanted norbie to win more than he wanted himself to win. ive watched norbies acceptances speech like 10 x and i still get excited when they say his name. and i personally lvoed his GBS performance, even though he was a bit nervous and shaky and also trying not to laugh when he said i really do deserve it and pointed to john. he sounds so much better live and during the show.

me too! i was shaking and my heart was like pounding! lol. if he didnt win id be crushed and like would refuse to go to school. lol. when they announced his name i got up and screamed and ran around the room lol. my hearts still pounding! lol.
