If he announced it himself, then it sounds pretty legit. I sure hope it is. He'll be incredible!

I'd die to see Norm Lewis. He's got such an amazing voice. Ugh, I wish I was going to be in NYC while this was going on. I wish they'd record it.

Are they not going to record it?
I think it's a perfect excuse to have another cast album.

Wow, Norm Lewis would be perfect. I hope this is official.

Cast recording! Cast recording!
A Les Misérables cast recording with Norm Lewis would be heavenly.

Noooooooooooo.
If they won't use Les Miz veteran, I want Brian Stokes Mitchell to play Javert!
No offense to Mr.Lewis. But he doesn't have the "Marquee value" name of Stokes.

But he doesn't has the "Marqee value" name of Stokes.
Maybe that's the point.
Find a Valjean with the same marquee value as Stokes. (Colm Wilkinson does not count.)

I wouldn't have thought to say Norm Lewis if someone had asked me who I'd want to play Javert, but it really is perfect. I'm a little over the whole "Stokes" thing.
Last rumor I heard was that Craig Schulman was "in talks" to play Valjean (not a marque name, but solid).
I'd imagine they'll record the show again. There isn't an English language show out there that reflects the cuts and slight lyric changes that were made and they do some to like recording this show. Plus, it'd be nice to get one without Colm Wilkinson.

Point taken (only sort of because Warlow is completely unfeasible), but I'm sure I'm not the only one who could imagine Michael Ball's cheesiness working well with Norm Lewis' earnestness.

I will be seriously surprised if Michael Ball doesn't play Valjean in this.
And I bet Lea Salonga will be Fantine

Does Les Mis really need Marquee Value names? I never thought they did before.

They don't. That's part of why I'm so (cautiously) happy about Norm Lewis.

Will Sweeney close at that time? I wish Patti Lupone to be Mme.Thenardie.
Because they announced that this Les Miz revival would feature marquee value names.
I wish a diamond Les Miz cast, stronger than TAC.

Yea, right. Patti as Mme. Thenardier.
She wouldn't even play Fantine - and that has a full song, or two.

If Mackintosh is bringing back Les Mis to make money, you can bet that he will attempt to make more money with another recording. I'd love for another symphonic recording, featuring a new cast, but I won't be too hopeful.

Wow...interesting choice. Don't really see him in this role, but damn, he does have an amazing voice. Good for him.

Not wanting to be labelled as having made offensive comments let me just say this....
Current London Javert is Cornell John. Previously played Mufasa and a terrific actor. He brings something to the role that makes it so much more predatory. His physicality is just so imposing. Anyway I can see Norm bringing something similar as he is such a big guy. Plus with that voice! Dear god I can hear his Suicide in my head and its going all goosebumps
As for Craig Schulman as Valjean. Well thats just icky! I dont have any time for the various Broadway Valjeans. They have mostly sounded awful. The vocal quality is just hellish. I realise thats what was the type to cast however if you look at some of the fine Valjeans we have had in London...
Far superior singers! People like Simon Bowman (the original Chris!) Stig Rossen, John Owen Jones and Jeff Leyton. More importantly they all brought some variety to the part.

mrkringas, saw Cornell a few weeks ago play the role and found him horrendously BAD. I must have missed something...

Norm Lewis is a FANTASTIC idea!!! Brian Stokes Mitchell is SO NOT. I do not want to hear him scoop his way through the role. If Norm in the show is the case, bravo Les Mis folks!
