I want to take one of my cousins to see Spring Awakening, she is 13, and I read that one of the girls has a nude scene? Could someone tell me how much nudity there is, and if its appropriate. Thanks

a bare bottom.
it depends more on her maturity, I suppose but I think it should be fine.
Thanks
That's the male nudity.
There's also a topless female nude scene.
And if by "topless female nude scene" you mean "one bare breast for about 45 seconds of a song," then yes there is a "topless female nude scene." Sorry to be a pill, but there's a big difference.
in addition to the simulated sex (with the nudity) theres simulated masturbation and other strong content but its all stuff that I had on my mind when I was 13. Depends on the kid...
the nudity is not what makes the show inappropriate for a 13 yr old.
the nudity is in the context of fairly explicit sexual activity, not to mention masturbation scenes and a disturbing violent sexual scene.
ie this is NOT appropriate for most, if not all, 13 yr olds. the bare tit and the bare ass are somewhat irrelevant. its the bare ass thrusting against a girls hiked up skirt and unbuttoning her blouse that is the issue.

I don't know the last time you saw it. But, there's far more than ONE. It's clearly visible for at least a minute in both the end of Act I and the beginning of Act II.
Maybe not from on stage seating.
But if you're sitting in the boxes, rear orchestra, or mezz...it's EXTREMELY clear.
i am copying the same thing that i posted in a similar thread..
"yes, as someone mentioned, you do see lea's boob and jonathan groff's tush. and during 'my junk' there is lots of masturbation happening plain as day [though you don't actually see a penis] and throughout the entire show also.
but the infamous 'sex scene' is very visual, regardless of the nudity, you see full-on thrusting and [simulated] penetration as well as groff's hand groping and feeling and going "where the sins lie," and the orgasms that follow. it's not for the immature, that is one thing all right. this happens at the end of act one and again in act two before 'the guilty ones.'
so, not that you weren't, but be prepared. however, i strongly believe that all of these things are completely necessary and vital for the storyline and plot. i mean, they easily could've had these actions and events happen offstage, but it would have completely taken away from the show. so, as i said, it was a necessary thing, an artistic decision, if you will.
there is nothing at all vulgar or offensive in this show, though some may disagree. it is art, and is treated as such. this show was beautiful and honestly the best, most powerful piece of theatre i have ever seen! [hence why i am returning with onstage seats! haha!]
i'm sure you both will enjoy it! but it is only fair to warn the rest of your party, of the above.. otherwise they may be in for some serious shocks, lol! "
there you are. =)
and just a sidenote, hopefully your cousin is a mature young-adult, as opposed to a giggly lipglosh bubblegum teen. i have seen the two extremes, and i know that i myself was more mature at 13, but i knew many who definitely were not. so, make sure your cousin knows what she should expect nefore you get there, so she doesn't freak out too much, haha.
tit ass
Would your name happen to be Val?
It's at the top of Act II? That I did not know...

they repeat the exact smae series of movements that close act 1 in the top of act 2. one boob grab, pants around knees, groff's butt in the air, thrust, thrust, thrust, orgasm, everyone's clothes back on. it's really not such a big deal. the second act of Hair it's not.

I think it's okay for a 13 year old. I mean, it depends on how mature they are, but I think most 13 year olds can handle it... I really think I could have at that age. I haven't had the chance to see Spring yet, but it seems as though everything's done tastefully.
That was very detailed...

Would it be ok for a 15 year old
besides the nudity what else mature is in the show?
coolkid, all aspects of the show are mature, seriously.
*possible spoilers*
from wendla wanting to know the truth about where babies come from, to serious masterbation and wet dreams and sexual fantasies, to child abuse and underlying molestation, serious school pressures, curiousity about their own bodies, very life-like simulated sex and all that goes with it, nudity, pregnancy and abortion, suicide, hiding the truth about many of these things and clueless adults.. all with R-rated language.
however; it is my firm belief that all these things are done very tastefully and all are necessary to the storyline. nothing is overdone and without need. i think that it is absolutely fine for a 15 year old, in fact i think that teens are the age group that need to see this most, after all, it was written geared towards that particular group. but just be prepared for the show before you walk in. otherwise you may be in for a shocker!
and i will reiterate this as much as i need to; spring awakening was honestly and truly the most beautiful and meaningful piece of theatre i have ever seen, and i mean that. i have never been so moved or connected so much. i just really felt everything that was going on and the music. seriously, go see this.. no, not see.. you experience. so, go have the experience of a lifetime with the show. i promise you will not forget it!
i hope that was helpful to you! enjoy! =)

Even though the characters are young it's not a kid's show.
What about this beating scene? I'm just curious how that works. What motivation it is and who it involves with Lea?

Wendla wants to know what it is liked to be beaten, so she asks Melchior to do it. I don't know how it is staged though.

****Spoilers- beating scene
Wendla has just learned that her friend Martha is beaten regularly by her incestous father. She is both horrified and curious about what it feels like to be beaten.
Shortly afterward, when she asks, then begs, a reluctant Melchior to hit her with a stick she finds on the ground, she says, "I have never really felt ANYTHING." She complains that he is hitting her too softly for her to feel it, then he ends up striking her in a rage, and runs off in shock at his own behavior.

yes, and to add.. melchior is horrified at himself, because he does end up hurting wendla to the point of sobbing and melchi is just in shock at himself, not only because he did it, but because he liked the way it felt to hit her. which scares him.
and as someone said, even though the characters are young, this is not a kid's show by any stretch of the imagination.
but, i do get giddy everytime i talk about this show because that's how incredible it is, haha.
