I went with some friends to Mario's last official Laugh Whore (Still one more for the Actors fund manana) and I was in mourning for this would be the last time I could see it.
The man is hysterical.
One row behind me was a group of loud mouth ladies that were so loud they scared Mario. They were whistling at him and screaming and i could tell he wanted to bitch slap them across the face. I KNOW I WANTED TO!
THEY WOULD NOT STOP. Mario was incredible, he stayed focused and ignored them. Not like Whoopi, she would have whipped their asses or humiliated them. (Love Whoopi)
To top it off the loud mouths talked to each other so loudly i could not hear Mario.
People YOU ARE NOT IN YOUR LIVING ROOMS WHEN WATCHING A SHOW.
And the girl next to me had her cell on and kept checking it and looking to see if anyone called her.
I was mourning the loss of one of my favorite shows and i had to listen to the obnoxious bitches behind me.
One girl screamed out "This is so BROADWAY" Really i thought.
They belong in a barn.
Toto we are not in KANSAS ANYMORE!

I'm sorry, Corine. I was just a little excited, is all.
Those bitches! You should've slap them. Hell, I would have. Sorry you didn't have a great time.
Too bad no one said anything. Did Mario address them at all? It's just reinforcement for them to think this behavior is acceptable and then they're likely to do it again. I hate obnoxious, loud audience members - the way many people in the Boy From Oz audiences acted, you'd think it's Rocky Horror!

aww thats sucks. especially on a closing night.
I had a great time. I do love Mario's energy. The man has more energy then the energizer bunny and he is so adorable.
I think his sisters were in front of me and they were fun to watch (so proud of Mario)
It was a great time i did not have the nerve to tell the head bitch to shut up. I ALMOST DID but decided not to make a scene.
And Mario still would not do Dame Edna talking about her vagina.
I would have died to see that.
I will miss Mario Cantone's Laugh Whore.

That's bad. If they weren't put off by people glaring and hissing, well then ejection is the only way forward. Or just beat them 'till they bleed.
That totally sucks.
I saw Mario on New Years Eve and someones cell phone went off during his Michael Jackson bit and he stopped and looked in the general direction and said,
"Bitch turn it off. This isn't a play with a fourth wall. I can come down there."
It was so priceless. And then he just continued on as if nothing had happened.
serendipity, i would have paid to see that.
No he did nothing and i tell you one more remark from the head BITCH and i would have had a mud fight.
SO RUDE.
And the women to top it off were late from the bathroom and made us all get up and the head bitch sort of fell (triped, we didn't trip her but i was thinking hard about it maybe some of my WICKED POWERS SET IN)
LOL
Shame we have to deal with this type of human debris at every event now. I can no longer stand to go to movies or most concerts because of the rude, backward audience members. Seemed like the theatre was a safe haven from this type, but I guess not anymore.
Something else that concerns me is that theatres in Chicago are now allowing patrons to bring in food and drinks, so now you can hear these people chomping on their M&M's and other assorted goodies while checking their cell phones for messages. Ugggghhhh!!

yeah when I flew down to Raleigh to see Sebastian Bach, Kate Shindle and George Merritt in Jekyll & Hyde, you were totally allowed to bring food into the theater. More money for them I guess.
This seems to be worse then ever. The incident at Whoopi was worse the women actually made a private phone call during Whoopi's show.
Something has to be done about it.
did showtime film it? I hope they did. I'd really like to see it...
CATSNYrevival, if you mean did Showtime film Mario's show then the answer is yes. I was actually at one of the tapings the first time I saw the show. He taped a sat mat and even. It should be on, i believe, in march.
Yes. I hope they sell it on a dvd. I want my own copy without the cackling bitches in the background.
I don't have showtime.
oh, awesome! I can't wait!
Corine, I'm sure they'll sell it eventually. Otherwise, when the time comes around I'll send you a copy!
Grazie. I love Mario.

Sorry to hear about your experiences this week, Corrine. I hate that sort of thing too.
It seems like there are so many audience participation shows lately that people can't distinguish when it's appropriate and when it's not. They're becoming conditioned to yell back at the stage. It's distressing.
And it is ok to yell back when he asks you to but not through his monologue.
I was more upset for Mario. I think he was extra polite because his family was there.
Mario is a star. Come back to Broadway soon Mario.
He is WONDERFUL.
Loved the Half a Homo song.
Well, you seem to have bad luck at shows. You should have given them the finger; it would have been quieter than slapping.
Millie,
I don't have bad luck at shows, i just go three times a week.
How do you afford it?? (I don't know you too well - you may have discussed this before.)
