don't know about the play noms, but I'm pulling for between the following two's:
Leading Actor: Raul Esparza / Gavin Lee
Leading Actress: Kristin Chenoweth / Audra McDonald
Featured Actor: Jason Danieley / David Pittu
Featured Actress: Orfeh / Karen Ziemba
Musical: Mary Poppins / Spring Awakening
Revival: A Chorus Line / 110 in the Shade
Not Mary Poppins.
Musical- Curtains
Score- Curtains
Actor- EsparzaCerveris (really don't care)
Actress- Murphy
Director- Doyle (Hal Prince really, really should have been nominated. It's his best work since Kiss of the Spider Woman.)
That's all I can think of four now.

Curtains is a much better show than Mary Poppins, I was just referring from a commercial point of view that Mary Poppins would appeal more. Mary Poppins received the most nominations, so they had to have liked 'something' about it. But I do hope Curtains or Spring Awakening wins.
Your predictions are perfectly valid Mungo. I didn't say anything about them. And you could be right.
some of these nomiantions make me barf.

Haha, sorry if that came off as hostile jv92. I didn't mean it that way, I guess I'm just in a debate-y mood
Edit: Why isn't Best Book a choice for Outer Critics?

I agree with theaterdude. By the way, only the Tony's Best Musical award is about commercial value.

I really want Jason Danieley and Frank Langella to win in their categories. I tried to pick my favourite Outstanding Actor in a Musical, but it was like choosing a favourite out of my children, and I couldn't do it. The only thing I knew was that I'd prefer Gavin Lee to *not* take it. ^_^
I have to go with Nilaja for Solo Performance. What she creates on that stage alone ~ with only chairs and a broom is amazing. Of course, to really understand it, you probably have to be a teacher, so... Seriously on Friday night the UFT bought the theatre out for new teachers ~ we packed it. And the show ran 30 minutes over because we reacted to EVERYthing because we understood. Unlike a woman who Nilaja said sat in the front row a couple of weeks ago and read her playbill the whole show.
I'm still confused at some of the nominations but would love to see Spring Awakening win as it's the only musical to take any real risks and breath some much needed life in to the season and Orfeh because she flat out deserves it and gave the best performance of the women. Now and again, it should be about the best, no? And yes, I've seen all of the female nominees and would easily have filled the other slots differently. Murphy and Cerveris are, in my opinion, a lock.

i would love to see rebca lucker win because she is a great actess.
Lucker? Well, Ms. Luker is "lucky" to get a nomination.
Hoping for a DAVID PITTU win! He's great as Brecht, and that category is pathetic. He gives the best supporting performance this year in a musical imo.

Actors and actresses aside, who has the best role?
What exactly do you mean by that Mungo?
Broadway Legend Joined: 4/8/07
Who, out of all the performers nominated, has the best role? Like:
Kurt Weill v. Bobby v. Bert V. Lt. Frank Cioffi
etc...
Sorry for the confusion!
I still don't know what you mean by "best". If you mean the "most interesting to perform", I would say the 4 musical awards for best role go to Bert, Lizzie, George Banks, and Cassie. For plays, I would say Nixon, Jennifer Ehle's characters in Utopia, Uncle, and Martha Plimpton's characters in Utopia.

Hahah, I guess explaining it is harder than I thought but along those lines bjh2114! Who has the most interesting, juiciest, most fulfilling role? I agree with all of your choices for musical, except I'm still hesitant about George Banks, but I'll take your word for it!
Going along those lines, I definitely stand by my earlier statement about Nilaja for solo performance. The number of characters she portrays, the differences between them, and the fluency with which she switches ~ literally from one moment to another ~ is simply amazing.
Well Mungo, I don't think George Banks is a particularly juicy role either, but neither are Brecht (who's just perverted) and Bobby (who's just stupid and bubbly). I think of the 4 characters nominated in that category, George Banks goes through the greatest number of emotions and states of mind. But I agree that none of them are THAT juicy.
