I thought I'd start a new thread for this upcoming one-night concert, as the other thread was mostly about Of Thee I Sing more generally as a property. Wish I could go to this; is anybody here going to go?
I don't think this has been widely announced yet, but the website now has Denee Benton listed as Mary Turner (replacing Phillipa Soo). Good choice!

(At this rate, Denee and Phillipa should really do a joint album or cabaret show or something together...)
I was super excited for this before, but Benton's casting seals the deal.
They went from one Natasha to another...Lol.
Richard Kind has also been replaced with Kevin Chamberlin as the VP.
OTIS's plot is vaguely reminiscent of Season 2 of unREAL as well, in which Denee starred. Season 1 was similar too actually. (Spoilers?) Man reluctantly participates in beauty/matchmaking contest for PR purposes, then falls for the 'wrong' woman... they're all Cinderella stories (up to a point) I guess.
Fan123: go read the script again.
Twice more, if you have to.
There's a reason this musical got the Pulitzer.
Okay. Well, I never claimed that the plot points above are all that there is to OTIS, but those are the ones relevant to the parallel I was drawing, which is in fact accurate as far as I took it. I was pointing out some similarities which may interest those who are fans of Denee's work in general. Typecast in Phillipa Soo roles, typecast in matchmaking contest-related roles, heh.
