Amalia in She Loves Me.
My favorite soprano is Natalie Dessay, but if this is limited to MT, then Kelli O'Hara.
YAY!!!
Happily, my particular soprano makes me a great match for Eliza Doolittle in 'My Fair Lady'. Yay! My favourite soprano is either Audra McDonald or Theresa McCarthy, but I have a heckuva lotta love for Kelli O'Hara getting out there and showing everyone how it's done. :)
This is pretty great. We should make a facebook group. As for me, right now I'm feeling Chenoweth because I sang 14G at my last talent show thingy
I think my favorite has to be Audra as well.
Celia Keenan-Bolger has a beautiful voice.

Kristin Chenoweth is my favorite, but I love Kelli O'Hara as well.
i'm with you guys on all of your fave sopranos
hopefully some people might list us some day!!!
I'm checking out the article on sopranos at the Wikipedia. It's a fun read!

As far as I can tell from their descriptions, I appear to be mostly a lyric soprano. I've never had formal vocal training though, so could be massively wrong. Mimi from 'La Boheme' is a lyric soprano, so perhaps I could be in a form of 'Rent' after all some day! ^_^
I was looking at the Wikipedia article on Tenors too. I'm not quite sure what I would be classified as, but I can hit all of the falsetto notes for Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys.

I'm not sure if I'm a soubrette soprano or a lyric. I've been told I have a very lyrical voice by my voice teacher and my choir director, but my voice is also very bright and light and fits the description of a soubrette better in my opinion. But I'm only 17, so who knows. Maybe when I'm older I'll develop into a lyric coloratura.
thanks for the article, it is a great read!!!
yeah mermaggiegalinda, i'm 17 and have been told i'm a lyric soprano by my voice teacher but who knows? i sure hope i become a coloratura!

There's a cute little saying in the opera world: don't fach yourself!
It's hard to know your true fach until you're 30 or so, and even then, there are roles that people can sing that technically are outside of their fach. Right now I'm a soubrette/light lyric. But, from what she's been saying to me, it appears that my teacher seems to think that my voice is best for lyric coloratura rep.
I have no idea what I am. We figured out that I was a soprano during a drunken Glitter and Be Gay rendition. But my sophomore year of high school I was in the alto section of the chorus, but it was Grease so it doesn't count. I should probably ask my voice teacher...
