I could easily see Allison as Clara, if she has the soprano. And even though she could totally do better things with her career, she would probably be an amazing Ariel in the Little Mermaid.
I saw it in Minneapolis and I thought it was great. Kyle Riabko, Blake Bashoff, and Christy Altomare were all fantastic. I was really impressed with it. Great quality for a touring production.
Is it bad that I kind of want to audition for this? Too bad I couldn't make it to any of the cities. I probably wouldn't get too far anyway. And I still have to finish high school.
It would be nice if in the movie they actually made Cosette less of a bland character and gave her some substance. Maybe they should cast someone who is a great actress (as well as a good soprano) to make her interesting. Will probably never happen though.
"I could see Miley Cyrus doing a whiney approach to Eponine ala Frances De Ruffelle" That would be just...awful. I don't like Frances to begin with, but even her voice is less annoying than Miley. And then Eponine would just become even more of a teenybopper character. Evan Rachel Wood would be much better, her voice is pretty but not especially strong though.
No, that's not really what I meant, it's just that most of the "hot" teen actors that are very popular today aren't that talented...at least not talented enough for Les Mis.
I'm sorry! It gives me nightmares too. I would love if they cast talented unknowns as Marius, Eponine and Cosette. But I have a feeling that won't happen.
I have always thought Kate Winslet would make a great Fantine. She is my ideal choice, especially since Fantine is my favorite character. It would also be nice to see Kevin Kline as Javert, he really needs to be in a musical again. I just really hope they keep the movie free of HSM kids...especially Zac Efron as Marius or Ashley Tisdale/Vanessa Hudgens as Eponine/Cosette.
Amy Adams would make a great Glinda, but I was kind of hoping for Kristen Bell. I guess Amy is a bigger star than her though. I'm not so sure about Anne as Elphaba..she can sing, but I don't think her voice is right for the part. She could act it well though.
I loved those Les Mis bloopers! I think I may need to show that to the guy who played Enjolras in my production...he always had trouble with those high parts, but he never cracked like those guys!
