People fighting not only for land, but fighting for what they want and what and what they believe in. the one line that sums up the entire show is "I may not be better than anybody else, but I'll be damned if I aint just as good." that's how Jud feels and why he doesn't understand that while he may not be better than Curly he can give Laurey the same things. unfortunatly what she really wants is Curly. it is only second a love story and a shady one at that because the closest they ever get to saying "I love you" is "People Will Say We're In Love"...

It's about a strange sexual custom that existed in the American West one hundred years ago. Girls would prepare picnic baskets, and there woudl be an auction. The man who bid the most on a picnic basket got to have sex with the girl who made it.
It's also about a strange time when a man with a funny name and a strange Middle Eastern accent was completely trusted by rednecks.
