You went to the Stepford Wives casting call? You were CAST?! Lucky lol I wasn't tall enough, so I didn't bother. A friend of mine went and she said they wound up only casting girls with REALLY pale blonde hair. Good thing I didn't go -- not only am I overwhelmingly not tall enough, I'm also a redhead ![]()
I was an extra once when I was younger (Scenes from a Mall) but they told us right there just to come back to the mall blah blah day at whatever time. It was filmed in my hometown mall.

Posted: 10/12/03 at 2:55pmI was an extra in the TV movie THE CHRISTMAS CHILD, 'way back in the 70's. I was vacationing in Salt Lake City and they were looking for extras to shoot scenes at the Mormon temple. I worked all night and my sole appearance on camera lasts about 15 seconds. The film still pops up on cable channels during the holiday season.

They're filming something called "The Punisher" here in Tampa. Because I work for county, I get a daily e-mail telling us which streets are closed for filming that day.
I think John Travolta is in it but couldn't swear to it.
They showed lines of people trying to be an extra in the film on the news recently. Some even camped out over night so they would be the first in line.
I couldn't see taking the time off from work to even try.

Being an extra (or background as they are occ known) is a lousy gig generally. They are really treated as cattle( unless they are in the union) seperate craft table with generic chips cheese whiz & peanutbutter & bread usually told to "not talk to the talent" work anywhere from 4 hrs to 24 hrs all for minimum wage & lunch ( freq a box type) ( yes I have been there when that's happened!) That being said there are people who do it regularly ( tho only union members can make enough to make a living out of it)
I always say" I'm in this business for the glamour-
and I'm NOT leaving till I see some!!"
