So I guess I really can't wait for the mother to die so he can become queen?
Why is the media treating this like it's something new? His trysts with young men has been rumored for years.

No surprise there. I believe that Camilla Parker Bowles is really a man in drag.

Edward, whose wife just had a baby, is generally known for his love affairs. The former servant who made this claim about Charles is known for his PTSD, alcoholic blackouts, racist comments to other staff members, and other allegations about his co-workers.

What shocks me is that a servant this erratic would be hired by the royals in the first place.....I mean how does that happen?
How does a mental patient get this kind of access?
unless, he's not any of the things he is said to be...just telling the truth..

voiceanth, maybe it's a case of keeping your friends close, your enemies closer??
post traumatic stress disorder, most likely
Actually, I think Lassy's observations are probably right.
And frankly, they would be far more damaging to Charles than the rumour that he was shtuppin' a hot manservant.
The latter would markedly improve his image.

wait--what?? what have i missed? does anyone have a link to this story??
Does it matter?
In a way, I feel terribly sorry for the royal family. Many people work very hard to achieve fame, and I have less sympathy for them when their cleb status makes a private life difficult. For the Windsors, it's different. They are born into a spotlight, and stay there whether they want to or not.
I remember an interview from before the Royal Wedding, in which Prince Charles said that he couldn't marry any woman he loved, like anyone else could. He had to marry a woman that would make a suitable Queen. How sad. He can't choose his love any more than he can choose his life.
Gay, straight, or whatever, Charles deserves the same chances anyone else would have to be happy. What a pity that those opportunities aren't open to him.

And I thought (at first glance) this was a thread about Port Charles. Oh, my--I only took a sip of the wine I'm cooking with--I swear!

Tesse, it does matter. If you are not gay you might not understand that to find out someone who is either admired or in a position of power is gay or may be gay, matters to those of us who are. It's kind of a validation thing that's too difficult to explain in a message board post. Basically, it's nice to be able to say to people "the person you admire so much is one of those gays that you dislike". You hope that maybe it will bring them around.
As far as Charles being able to live as he pleases, isn't it his family that maintains the ancient rules of behavior? He could do what ever he wants. An heir to the thrown once gave it up to marry a commoner that he loved. It's Charles choice to continue to live withing the constrictions of the royal familys traditions. Perhaps when he is King he'll change those things for good.

Anthony Geary = Prince Charles!
Very valid points, Orion, and of course I wouldn't suggest that there shouldn't be gay role models. I'm just saying that if a person wants to have a life that isn't under a microscope, he should be able to.
And yes, if Prince Chas wanted to leave public life, I imagine he could give it a try, but I doubt he'd get very far. Opinion of governmental officials is very different from what it was when Edward abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson. Back then, the royal family commanded some respect. Today, the tabloids will publish any bit of gossip they can find, so long as it sells papers. If Charles announced that he would pass up the chance to wear the crown and go live as an ordinary citizen, I'm certain he'd still have papparazzi following his every move, and his face would still be on the covers of the tabloids.
As for my own sessuality (as Jack would call it), I enjoy my lack of celebrity and the privacy it ensures. :^) I will say, however, that I have enormous respect for the gay celebrities who have risked their careers to be honest about their private lives. Considering all the homophobia that somehow still remains in society, it's a dangerous move, and I'm glad that many actors have continued successfully since coming out.
I still look forward to the day when no one cares about other people's sex lives, and all of us, Princes and paupers alike, can live with whomever we love.

Might I add that the two top news stories in England - Prince Charles' scandal and the trial of two murdered school girls - cannot be reported on our TV stations due to court orders preventing details being made public. So people can talk on opposite sides of the globe but not from a screen into our homes? It's ludicrous.

The libel laws are unreal in the UK!
Yeah Tesse, you're right about the papparazzi continuing to dog him. However, as far as the rules that govern who he can marry are within his control. It's a lot to give up, the throne of the United Kingdom.
And yes it would be nice if we didn't have to care about people's private sex lives. I have to admit I get very interested when someone is rumored to be gay and the source is reliable. It would be great though if it were so commonplace and accepted by everyone that we wouldn't give a crap anymore.
For him to cheat on Diana with Camilla shows he needs his head ( & eyes) examined
Not at all, Roxy. Charles & Diana had no common interests. He was bored silly by her. Whereas he and Camilla shared a lot of the same interests which made her so much sexier to him.

But he went into this marriage -- that means he should be faithful. He is a slime. I wish his boys become smart and rip their dad a new one.
So did Diana, Jon.
By that token, she's as slimy as he is. Or was.
