Prince Charles needed an heir and Diana knew he was still having an affair with Mrs. Parker-Bowles three days before they were married. They were both opportunists.
Diana has been dead for six years. If Charles wants to marry Camilla, then he should.
BTW, just read that Queen Elizabeth II is suggesting to the Parliament that the ban on same sex marriage be lifted by the Church of England. There have been gay Kings in the British monarchy before.
WOW! Looks like Queenie is more hep to the step than I thought!

Okay, I'm opening myself up for plenty of criticism here, but I find Prince Charles to be quite sexy--I always have. Yes, he has jug handles for ears. Yes, he's a geek. Yes, he needs a make-ver by the Fab Five...but there's something about him that I've always felt was attractive. In fact, he seems to be getting more appealing as he grows older.
I guess sexual attractiveness varies from person to person.

I owe an apology for not checking my facts before posting. Actually, QEII will not address same sex marriage, as my niece incorrectly informed me. She is going to introduce a bill that allows homosexual couples to have the same legal equal rights as heterosexual couples. There's a big difference. Sorry to misinform.

The thread(s) that bind: Didn't Charles and Boy George both fantasize about becoming somone's underwear? Charles wanted to be Camilla's (or was it her tampon?) and George's fantasy was to be Matt Dillon's underwear.
I agree wholeheartedly, Orion. And if we're lucky, we'll reach that day in our lifetime.

True..except Diana didn't have an affair, I understand, until after it was obvious her marriage was a sham and she realized Charles was diddling Camilla. If he didn't take it seriously, why should she. It was a mess from day one, and I still feel more on her side, being as young as she was and from all accounts in love with Charles. While he was merely doing his princely duties. Certainly not my idea of princes and princesses that I had growing up..LOL.
Well, it certainly isn't Snow White and Prince Charming but Charles and Diana are far from being the first couple whose lives were ruined by arranged or manipulated marriages for the sake of the Monarchy.
I honestly don't think you can lay blame on either of them. They were both victims of an antiquated idea of royal decorum. Charles remained single for so many years presumably because, as heir to the throne, he could not marry the woman he wanted. Finally, under great pressure to marry and prtoduce an heir he marries a woman who is from teh right bloodline and has teh right breeding but, whom he doesn't love. She being young and naive didn't realize ahe was to be like every other Princess in history and just be happy to be Princess, act as the perfect symbol for her country and allow her husband to be with his true love.
If things were updated and the monarchy stopped worrying about bloodlines, Charles probably would have married Camilla many years ago and history would be different.
