Any nationality/race can register; any and all help is sorely needed. You DO NOT have to be a De Anza student or faculty member! As long as you are 18-60 years of age, you can register.
I have organized this event for the DASB government; we urge you to please come on out and show some love! All we ask of you is a simple cheek swab and ten minutes of your time to fill out a form.
Please come out to De Anza College (Main Quad) on November 17th and 18th, from 10:30-3:30 each day, and express your support for Michelle and other people in desperate need of a transplant! Be the one to save a life; to grant somebody a miracle.

"26-year old Michelle Maykin was originally diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer of the blood, on February 27, 2007. After undergoing 5 rounds of chemotherapy, Michelle reached a state of remission and slowly began to reclaim her life. She also dedicated herself to helping others by creating Project Michelle, a campaign focused on recruiting people to become potential bone marrow donors.
In April of 2008, two months after returning to work, Michelle began to feel symptoms similar to those she had felt prior to her original diagnosis. Michelle’s fears became true on May 7, 2008 when her oncologist confirmed that she had relapsed. She was also blindsided by the results of an MRI that revealed a mass on her brain.
Help Michelle fight this battle! She urgently needs your help. Please learn more about the process and register to be bone marrow donor. Your choice could save her life."
If you are of a certain descent and wish to register, a $25 fee is required:
"The AADP specializes in outreaching to the Asian and Pacific Islander community – its patients and donors. However, our drives are open to all minorities who are medically able and willing to volunteer. Nationally, all government funds have gone into covering the cost of recruiting all those of minority descent. Non-minorities may be asked to cover all or part of the cost of their own tissue typing. This is not meant to discriminate against anyone, but is intended to better help all patients in need."
Invite your friends, family, classmates, co-workers, etc! Together, we can save lives.
Everybody who registers will recieve the oppurtunity to enter a drawing! The drawing will be held at 2:30 pm each day! Prizes include:
-- Two tix to a production at American Musical Theatre of San Jose; choose from the touring performance of Tarzan or a local production of 42nd Street (Donated by AMT)
-- Gift card to the AndrewJames Salon in Cupertino (Donated by AndrewJames Salon)
-- A "Go De Anza; Go Green" tee shirt from the De Anza bookstore (Monday drawing only)
-- An IPOD Shuffle from the De Anza Bookstore (Tuesday drawing only)
