To see these greats in anything would have been amazing but specifically:
Merman in Gypsy
Michael Jeter in Grand Hotel
Jerry Orbach and Anna Maria Albergetti in Carnival
Chita Rivera in Kiss of the Spiderwoman
"I am sorry but it is an unjust world and virtue is only triumphant in theatricle performances" The Mikado

I assume this thread is about performers who have passed (although there are several very much alive ones mentioned), so here are mine:
I would have loved to have "experienced" Al Jolson at the height of his popularity in one of his shows at the Winter Garden. His ad-libs, energy, and over-the-top persona would have been something to see.
I also would have liked to have seen Zero Mostel, Brando, Gene Kelly, Ray Bolger, and Bert Lahr.

So many-
Jolson
La Merm
Gertie Lawrence in The King and I
Judy Garland (Does she count?)
Laurette Taylor
Gwen Verdon
Dorothy Collins (God, why didn't she do something else after Follies?)
BUT-
Think of all the great stars that are still with us: Liza, Chita, Patti, Christine Ebersole, Mandy Patinkin, Angela Lansbury and (Praise the Lord!) Barbara Cook. Thank God for them.
