Speaking of Jane Curtin....just found this..from Playbill.com
Director Gordon Davidson, actor John Lithgow and film/TV writer and business entrepreneur Chris Campbell will be honored by the National Corporate Theatre Fund next month.
The Fund's Annual Chairman's Awards Gala will be held April 4 at the Essex House and will feature Jane Curtin, recently on Broadway in the Noises Off revival, as Master of Ceremonies. David Hyde Pierce, Anna Deavere Smith and Rosalyn and Irwin Engelman will present the honorees with their awards. Lithgow will receive the Theatre Artist Award, Davidson will be given the NCTF Leadership Award, and Campbell will be honored with the Corporate Leadership Award.
The evening will begin at 6:30 PM with cocktails, followed by dinner at 7:30 PM. The black-tie event will also include a silent auction and a musical presentation directed and choreographed by Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' Denis Jones and a tribute performance by The Light in the Piazza's Kelli O'Hara.
I know basically nothing about The Confidence Man, but I know it's something he did awhile ago and he has a song on there called "Pain..." somethingorother. I can't remember. *Blush*
And I've heard mid-May (everything from May 10th to the 17th) for the release date of the DRS cast recording.
Re The Confidence Man It was a show that never ended up being produced but in the end they did a recording w a number of people recording different songs frm the score.(1998 I think) Norb is on the 1st track w Yancy Arrias & the chorus "New Orleans is Coming to Me" He sounds great on it! The other song is "Pain Humbles" & is more of a patter type song but Norb does such great things w the lyric & his voice that my only regret is H doesn't do the rest of the recording! ( Can there BE enuf fo Norbert singing?) The rest of recording is not so special but I found it worth it just for the Norb tracks.( This is SO sad! Don't encourage me....)
I heard people got like, multiple copies of the CD. Anyone grab me one?
Oh! And any word on Drama Desk nominations? Nevermind, I just saw that they're not being announced until tomorrow. I'm dumb. Updated On: 4/27/05 at 03:56 PM
Yeah, I'll admit that I'm scared for Norbert now since Tim and John both got nominated. Even if Norbert is better than both of them, they're huge names compared to Norbert.
But let me toss in a congrats to Sherie for her first Tony nod! Even though she probably won't win that either... eeeeeek.
I'm still worried that Spamalot will be this years The Producers. *Sigh* I just hope it doesn't leave DRS totally in the dust, ala The Full Monty.
Personally, I think Tim Curry would be pissed off if he found out people think he got nominated because of him having been in Rocky Horror. That was 30 years ago! I know I'd be fuming if that were the case and I were in his shoes.
Who is submitting a question for Norbert for the Q&A?
I already did. I asked him what his most embarassing moment during a show was. Part of me thinks my luck won't run with this one like it did with Patrick Wilson, so I doubt it'll get answered.
I got an email from Amazon a couple of days ago saying my order has shipped, which included my DRS cast recording and Pray for the Soul of Betty's CD (that's Constantine Maroulis' band for those of you who don't know). So I should get them either tomorrow or on Monday.
Yeah, I'm coming to the celebration late, too - but that's OKAY! I literally have not stopped smiling since last night and I've had permenant warm fuzzies in my tummy since Bernadette said his name (NORBUHT.. hehe).
I don't think I could ever express how happy and proud I am of Norbert, honestly. This award is a long time coming. I love him so damn much. <333333
I've been around, but my job is kicking my ASS. Seriously. But almost every penny is going toward my trip to NYC so I can see Norbert in person for my birthday (best birthday present ever, I know), so that's okay.
Awwwwwwwwwww. I wish I could have seen tonight's performance. I'm insanely jealous of those of you who did. But no worries, I've been told I'm an awesome audience member and I cheer very, vrey loudly. So Norbert will get quite the entrance and curtain call applause from me. Hehe.
I think if it had been anyone other than Bernadette giving him his Tony, he may have jumped on them for the hug. Haha. I could totally see him wanting to do that. And him RUNNING up to the stage? So damn cute. I love him. Le'sigh.
