Gigi sounds really good but I have no idea why the snippet chosen for the new Kim shows her going flat when hitting those C-sharps/D-flat's in "I'd Give My Life For You."

Everyone is very talented obviously and these were audition bits for some of them..so we shouldn't be seeing a finished performance at this time. Kim sounded a little "modern" and "pop" for what I think the role should be but that does not mean her voice won't have the purer tone to it for the actual show.
That said and I have seen this commented on before..but the actress playing Ellen just seems way too old to be playing opposite this Kim and this Chris. Personally think the role of Ellen works the best when she is played young and vulnerable like Kim - both victims of war from totally different worlds - as the casualties of war are not always so obvious. I don't think we are going to see that from this Ellen.
Thanks for posting this....

God, I LOVE Jon Jon Briones as the Engineer (saw him twice in the Non-Equity tour). I'm wondering how believable the guy they've cast as Chris will be as a Marine, it's hard to tell with the Les Mis "school boy" wardrobe. Rachel Ann Go seems great and I actually think that she seems more like a Kim than a Gigi (although maybe she's too old since this production seems to be going super young?) Agree that Tamsin (sp?) seems great but too old for this production.
I've already posted my thoughts on Kim in the Kim casting thread, but she just doesn't have the look for me.
Also, why didn't they mention Thuy at all? I think the role's kind of important.

This girl landed a major role and whoever put this together should have chosen a clip that best represented why she actually got this gig. Those series of notes in that passage of I'D GIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU are so under the pitch it's jarring big time. That's not something that should be advertised or promoted by Cameron Mackintosh and co. to show off how great this girl's voice is.
