Just got back from seeing "Wicked" with "new cast".....
Way too tired to post full review, but the show is in very good hands !!!! Shoshana is a goddess ! I actually liked her acting better than Idina's, (and thats saying a lot cause we loved Idina) Her voice is a weapon ! Totally amazing !!!
The only problem that I had (if it even is a problem) was getting used to her height. She seems very short. (not sure of her actual height)
Also a plug for Jeffrey Kuhn, who is my favorite Boq to date. He plays the role perfectly !
That's weird... because Idina's pretty short... isn't she?

I believe Idina is taller. I don't remember her exact height, but I do know that Shoshana Bean is 5'3".
Well, there you go. Idina's about 5'4" or 5'5", I think.
prepare yourself for shameless promotion:

She is, but she looked taller in pics. I thought.

That's odd ... I've never seen Wicked but every pic of Idina that I've seen she seemed rather tall, especially compared to Shoshana.
Who cares how tall she is? Why is this even an issue? Are we now judging performances on the height of an actor? "Well, she was not as tall as Edena, but she was okay, maybe if they put her in REALLY high heels or even lifts she might be better. But her voice is great and she can act, but she is so freaking SHORT!"

Derech2, what is your avatar from??? It's in the back of my mind, but I can't retrieve it and it's driving me crazy!
Sueleen.... take a chill.... relax.... I just stated in my OP that her height took some getting used to, thats all. I also said that she is amazing. It is not an "issue".. it was just a point being made. Seeing little peanut KC on the stage with Idina a number of times, and then seeing Shosh with JLT takes some getting used to.

I agree jeeze Sueleen...its people who spaz out like that who ruin these threads
BTW: Its Idina
Anyway i wanna see Shoshana really bad! I have heard nothing but good revues about her! Please post a entire revue later Testing!!
Shosh is amazing! I can't wait to see her and how she portrays Elphaba. And her voice, you have to love it!
A little Bean story...
I first saw Soshana in a Neil Berg concert about 3-4 years ago. We were backstage talking with some of the "better known" performers. Soshana was standing in the hallway, smiling and quiet. I made a point to get through the crowd to approach this newcomer to tell her what a bombastic, wonderful job she did up there. And that she was definetly someone who was going somewhere with that voice and energy. She was truly humble and pleasantly shocked that some were finding their way to her. I'm sure she has long forgotten me and that conversation, but I am very happy to see her soar!
I hope she "rides the wave" for a good long run and that it takes her far.

There is no way, I repeat, zero possibility, that Sosha could have possibly forgotten you, PB. She is the nicest, most sincere, down-to-earth performer in a world filled with performers who are far too up-to-sky.
Don't you just love when you compliment performers and then they become successful?

I have complimented the following people: Cynthia Nixon after Angels in America (since became very famous on Sex + The City); Marcia Gay Hardin after Angels in America (since won Oscar); Anthony LaPaglia after A View From a Bridge (since won Tony); Marissa J. Winokur and Harvey Fierstein after Hairspray (since won Tonys); Anthony Rapp after three performances in Hedwig & The Angry Inch (since had two VERY sucessful Broadwayworld Threads devoted to him); Michael Ceveris after Assassins (since won Tony); and playwright Tony Kushner after the OutWrite Conference the year after Perestroika opened, (never heard from again but it's the exception that proves the rule).
Bottom line? Entertainers! Wanna make something of your careers? Forget Kabbala and Scientology. Make yourselves available to FindingNamo.
PB thats awesome. im sure she would never forget that.
Of course you'd like to see your friends or favorites get the parts. The most talented wonderful actors in this business spend months, even years looking for a part.
Quite often, it's a matter of being exactly what they want when they want it. It's a very desposable, fickle business. You ride the wave until it ends then swim out for the next one. If the waves are good, you hang ten for a longer time than most.
When the tide changes, you re-invent yourself with concerts, readings, new adventures. Then grab your board and test the waters again...or try real estate, marketing, teaching, directing or whatever pays the bills.
I'm just happy to see Soshana get her chance to ride this wave so well.
I know what you mean - it took used to seeing JLT after KC - since I saw them 2 weeks apart....
JLT towered over KC....but it's all good.
For all those that have not seen Shoshana yet.. GO !!!
Her acting is amazing ! She adds so much to the role.
