One of the songs from 'Oh, Kay!' was on the AOL Showtunes channel and I enjoyed the song but I've never seen this show. I've heard of it before, but I wanted to know a little bit more about it. Is this a good show? What's it about?
I know that its a Gershwin musical...
Sorry that I can't help you. I totally remember that my mom had the recording of the original cast and I'm pretty sure I've seen it on CD at Borders. Don't know the story but do remember that there was a revival not too long ago that was a flop.
I think "Someone to watch over me" is from "Oh Kay".
here is somewhat of an explanation of what it is about.

Thanks again Spider. You're being so helpful tonight with all my questions!
Again, no problem. I am here to serve
It's one of your typical 1920's "Poor girl marrying a rich man" musicals. The score is excellent! It contains such Gershwin classics as "Maybe", "Do, Do, Do", "Clap 'Yo Hands" and "Ain't It Romantic"...and a certain standard called "Someone to Watch Over Me". This is the show that put the great Gertrude Lawrence on the map. If you ever get the CD, I'd suggest you'd get the 1995 studio recording from Elecktra Nonesuch. Great CD (And it even has a Susan Lucci cameo in it)!
