So, I'm kind of slow, and not exactly sure what's going on with this. A few weeks ago I went to the Nederlander and asked them about the 10th anniv, and the guy at the window told me it was going to be an invite only kind of thing. But now reading the interview with Anthony on the forget-regret website...he said it's going to be open to the public and a fundraiser thing, very expensive?? But how and when are we able to order tickets? Is the entire house going to be lottery basically? He said something about registering on websites for it. (So which websites?) I mean, I would assume it will sell out VERY, very quick, and I just want to know in as much advance as possible what is exactly going on with that. Anyone with info?
Sarah
My understanding is that there will be lotto for the first two rows for $25 a ticket, with all other tickets being somewhere between $500 and $1500? I could be wrong on that, but I haven't heard anything about the 10th Anniversary Benefit in months.
When "info" is released, you'll know. There's really nothing yet. The only thing I can add to thespian geek's post is that supposedly, the lottery will take place online.
The tickets are so expensive because the funds raised need to be split between THREE organizations.
I think tickets start at $1000....

Well, April 29th is available on Ticketmaster.com --- that doesn't seem right? Is the 10th anniversary going to be held at Nederlander? I can't see how it wouldn't be.

I didn't mean to sound like people on the forum knew stuff other people didn't --- I just didn't know ANY info about it really...except from hearing little things here and there. I figured other people knew/know because I'm still fairly new on the forum.

I just meant that when the information is out there, it's going to be blatantly obvious; people are going to be talking about this. You won't have to search for it.

But just so I'm not confused...I don't even know why I have to confirm this, I went to the 6th anniversary .....it IS April 29th, right? Because...that date IS on ticketmaster. Saturday, right? It's listed on Ticketmaster. But of course the system is down right now, so I can't click into it to see if you can actually buy through them.
The 10th anniversary performance is on April 24th and it is at the Nederlander. The press release is on this site, just search for Rent anniversary or something and all the info so far will come up.

But the ticket I have from the 6th anniversary says April 29th....? Unless I'm reading it wrong.
Edit: No, it totally says 29th. Is something going completely over my head here? (I feel dumb for being completely confused over this)
They're not doing it on the official anniversary day.
It's probably because the theatre can only be used on certain days of the week if the benefit will work around the show's regular performance schedule; if they have to do it on a certain day of the week, it may not be the exact same date.
If the press release says the 24th, it's the 24th. They're not gonna lie.

Well, I didn't think they were lying! lol...I was just completely confused for a minute there. Ok, so, it's going to be on the 24th. And how do I get to the press release? From the Nederlander website? I'm not usually like this, but I'm just not with it at the moment...my mind is all over the place.
Try the Friends In Deed website.

Thanks a bunch. So is it known to anyone when they might release more info about it? Or is it all still up in the air at this point. Again, not trying to be annoying...I was just worried I was in the dark about a lot of the info.
Work on finding $1000 before you really have to worry about it.
I'm going to speculate that the DVD of the film will be released to coincide with the 10th Anniversary of the show.

I really hope this gets recorded or something...for those of us who don't have 1000 dollars to dish out.
~ i doubt they'll be filming this to commercially sell it.
they'll probably film it for archival purposes.

I agree. I was talking more about audio..maybe a CD? *crosses fingers*

Actually, it might be to their benefit to release it commercially. Could you imagine how much that would generate for the Jonathan Larson fondation, or whoever is getting this money? Sure it might interfere with the Rent film DVD, but ... hey, why not a double pack? You could buy the Rent film DVD with the 10th anny benefit for, I don't know, $45 - $50, with half of that going to the chairitable orginizations.
~ nice *thought*
but i doubt that will ever happen.
