Looking at the photos of the Dolly signage at the Shubert, I started thinking of the old fashioned sign with the lit letters which are placed on the black grid - and picturing the storage area with all these light up letters in different sizes...

Do the theatre owners maintain these signs and keep the "letter inventory" - or does a company like King Displays keep them?  While I'm resigned to the LED marquees, I hope those big letter signs and the small hanging signs beneath the marquees remain. (They're so "Broadway-ish" )

I can't speak for all of the theatres, but I know for a fact that the St. James basement stores all of the letters for their huge marquee on the roof.

By the way, does anyone know the industry term for that type of sign. (I'm certain there has to be one)
