Bette at the Oscars

Feb 26, 2019 — 10:41:20 AM

I thought she was f***ing divine!! A classy, Broadway-style number done right on the Oscars is rare. Her and Marc are masters of their craft, and the love onstage was palpable.

MARY POPPINS RETURNS

Dec 12, 2018 — 1:02:01 PM

Five Stars from The Telegraph:https://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/0/mary-poppins-returns-review-practically-perfect-every-way/"If I don’t say it, another critic will: Mary Poppins Returns really is practically perfect in every way. Walt Disney Pictures clearly realise the legacy of their beloved 1964 musical adaptation of PL Travers’ Mary Poppins stories is not to be trifled with.So rather than carrying on the story in the ordinary sense, the studio has taken the same approach they did with Sta...

MARY POPPINS RETURNS

Nov 26, 2018 — 11:05:54 AM

Wow, that's awesome to hear. Wouldn't expect the songs to match the originals, as I'm not sure that's even quite possible... but I figure that if the score/orchestrations are as glorious as you say, the new tunes will be supported sufficiently enough. (Did they at least surpass the quality of the new songs from the stage version?) Any standout moments? Do you think this will be a contender in the awards race?

MARY POPPINS RETURNS

Good lord, these orchestrations are unbelievable. Color me impressed. World premiere is this week – painfully curious to hear reports if anybody knows someone attending."The Place Where Lost Things Go" (Emily Blunt)https://youtu.be/6TFOZF0DokE"Trip A Little Light Fantastic" (Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emily Blunt, Company)https://youtu.be/04FyHOCA7ao

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Seating/Pricing Thread

Anybody willing to swap dates with me? I bought these tickets in October, but, cruel as life is, I have to be in London last minute, and my whole party is bailing on me now that I'm going to be away. 5/24 & 5/25 at 7:30p. Four seats, $175/part, Dress Circle, Row K, 115-118.

Mary Poppins Returns Teaser

Mar 5, 2018 — 1:32:22 PM

Wait, what bad buzz? I feel like people have been largely excited about this one. I think it looks — and SOUNDS — like it could be really magical. I'm very eager to see more. (And, if the color palette does indeed shift once she lands... I hope it does.)

Beauty and the Beast

Wow. "Evermore" sounds gorgeous. The entire score sounds as beautiful as ever, really.Orchestra Recording/Mixing: https://youtu.be/yKT3wgQN92sVoice Recording Sessions: https://youtu.be/-3lIk9h5R5I

Beauty and the Beast

That's literally a pitch altered version of the original Celine Dion/Peabo Bryson version. No way that they would let a high profile track like that leak so early. Also, I'm 95% positive that this new recording of Emma singing with a full orchestra is just the trailer audio layered on top of the orchestrations from the musical. It's not amazing quality so it's hard to tell, but if you listen closely with headphones you can still hear the eerie piano from the trailer, and very faintly, another ...

Beauty and the Beast

Keep in mind that these are her isolated vocals without the final orchestra track. It was edited to fit into a 30 second clip with cheesy trailer orchestrations. I had a feeling they'd debut some singing during the Globes tonight, but I wish it was a fully realized version from the final film.

Boston's Colonial Theatre to close....

Old "Letter" Signage

Jan 7, 2017 — 10:23:30 AM

I can't speak for all of the theatres, but I know for a fact that the St. James basement stores all of the letters for their huge marquee on the roof.

Aida producer

Why are you discouraging sharing one's curiosity with a group of other people that likely might interested? I learned so much about this industry during my education because I spent my time on these boards day and night. Sure, the OP could easily use Google - but now that someone else has shared their knowledge on the topic, so many other readers will know a little more about how theatre works.

Prom the Musical Live-stream Preview

Jul 21, 2016 — 12:14:18 AM

The Alliance Theatre streamed this live on their Facebook page tonight. Fun conversation with the creative team and a couple numbers from the show. I'm curious to learn more about this production once performances begin.https://www.facebook.com/AllianceTheatre/videos/10157165258230183/
