I think they only released the London one here, sort of how like Sister Act never got a new US recording when it came over from the West End as many of the principles also transferred with the production.
If I'm wrong I'd love to get my hands on the Broadway cast as well.

You're correct. The only English cast albums Mary Poppins have are the London and an Australian one, recorded live.
Am I remembering correctly that the original London recording differs from the Australian because the Australian has the new song that replaced one in London (and is recorded live)?

Yes. It's the song right at the end of Act 1 that was changed cause the children in the audience found the original version too "scary" (though listening to both the songs sound identical to me). And yes again it was recorded live.
