Just curious...Has anyone seen the Disney's touring show, "On the Record"? Is it any good? If Emily Skinner was still in it, I would make sure I get tickets to see it. Anyone know why she left so soon?
I dont know, but I'm seeing in Dallas either June or July. It sounds kind of boring, but I'm still looking forward!!!
I saw it. It belongs in one of Disney's theme parks...not advertised as broadway calibur. The talent is good, but the show is just blah. I found myself falling asleep a lot. I would just buy the recording of the show, and save a few bucks. There is no dialogue, so the recording is the whole show.
My friend Ashley Brown who I went to High School with is in the show so she was nice enough to treat me to a ticket when it came to Chicago. The show itself isn't anything to brag about but the music is good and the talent is amazing. It's a review show so don't go expecting an amazing plot line. It's nice entertainment for the evening - you'll enjoy yourself.

I saw it here in Chicago. It was enjoyable, but definitely not a Broadway show. Emily Skinner was terrific, and I wish she were on the recording. Ashley Brown stole the show. Her performance of Part of Your World and Reflections blew me away.
Yes its super dull - -the recording is much better than the actual show...all of the performers are great, however -- its just NOT a "Broadway Show" in any way. Yikes.

Emily is no longer with the show, Kaitlin Hopkins is (see my sig). I'm (hopefully) seeing this show sometime this week.

I saw it in Chicago with Emily Skinner. I am sure she is very talented, but her performance due to the shallow plot if you can call it that was ridiculous and the show was torture.
On the other hand, my nine year old daughter enjoyed it! So, it might be worth your time - but it would depend on the price.
If you really like Disney it's worth seeing...plus the cast is EXTREMELY talented..if you want plot...and even dialogue..it's not there...
if you want to hear very pretty arrangements of disney songs sung by great singers..then it's worth it!
I didn't see Emily either--she was "sick" then...and left the show like the next week i believe...and her understudy sucked but it's not the same girl they have now so it's all good!

Columbia-- is that your pic in your avatar? I think I saw you the night you saw OTR... were you with a big group of people afterwards, backstage waiting for Ashley? If so, I was the little blonde chick with Emily. (Which you prolly wouldn't remember, but I recall a large group of people saying they went to school with Ashley... maybe from CCM though... who knows...)
The show sucked, period.
And she left "so soon" for personal reasons... but it was her choice, contrary to some stories in the rumor mill.
Daisy--I don't blame her for leaving...she doesn't need a show like that!

At my CCM tour, the assistant dean mentioned Shoshana and Ashley Brown.
Daisy -
That was most likely good ole me. I dragged all my friends in our program to go see it because I'm a nerd and I wanted them to all meet Ashley. I don't remember seeing you.. don't hate me!

I saw the show here in Boston on Tuesday. I actually really, really liked it. I don't think its any worse thaan any revues that have hit Broadway in the past such as "A Grand Night For Singing" and "Ain't Misbehavin." You just have to remember that it is a REVUE. If you go looking for a plot, then you're bound to be dissapointed. I had hoped to see talented performers singing gorgeous Disney music for 2 hours and that is EXACTLY what I got. The cast is amazingly talented and seem to be having a great time. I think the show might do well on Broadway in a very small house such as the Music Box, Booth or Plymouth.
I was just really disapointed that Emily left. I'm a big fan of hers and I would really love to see her perform live. But, NOT enough to see her concert in Idaho...lol

Ha, I don't mind if you don't remember me... we didn't really talk. I was standing on that platform in the alley making a fool of myself (I was putting on my own musical revue for my friend Alice), when your group walked by and we overheard you talking to the stage door dude. I think Ashley had already come out and you guys were talking to her when Emily came out and then we booked it. There's really no reason you would remember me... I'm just creepy and remember these sort of things.
And I wouldn't travel to Idaho for her either! Love her bunches, but Idaho... um, no.
