who else agrees that this show was so underrated and unappreciated? I mean it only played for a little over a year and a lot of people have never even heard of it. I went into a local production knowing nothing and came out awed. after going back the second night, i bought the cast recording. any thoughts about the show or CD?

I saw it when it was on Broadway and enjoyed it very much.

I thought it was the best show on broadway that year, and one of the best of the 90s. Thoroughly entertaining. Simple in a profound way, well constructed, well directed and an AMAZING score and terrific cast.

I hated Will Rogers Follies!

It was one of the first shows I saw on Broadway, and it holds a special place in my heart...

I agree. A group did it here last summer. The production wasn't that great, but we got the cast recording. I love it!

One of my favorites. I saw the tour right after it left B'way, I believe quite a few of the original cast members were in it.

i agree. It is played a lot in high schools and even grade schools now. I think it needs more credit than that.

Kristin Chenoweth could barely control a Great Dane she trotted onto the stage. "Great, they gave me a dog that weighs five times what I do", she quipped. For the record, she weighs 93 pounds, and has a Maltese.

I love the show! I sang a couple songs from it a few years ago and my high school did it last year and I think it is an amazing show.

I recently purchaced this CD, and I can't get it out of my Cd player, car, or my head! It's so beautiful, and I consistantly get goosebumps from just listening to it! It NEEDS to be revived!

I agree, this show is amazing! I still remember sitting in the fifth row...simply breathtaking! Saw La Chanze in BABY at Paper Mill a few years back and she is still amazing, then she blew me away again in DESSA ROSE...Can't wait for THE COLOR PURPLE!

i really like it. Not exactly love, but like a lot.

I auditioned to be in the NJPAC production, but the auditioner basically kicked me out of the audition. now, I can see why. Back then, I cried my eyes out at home. I was about 12, first audition (besides middle school ones) and I started too early on the song. So, yeah. But i saw it and NJPAC and they did a good job! and I have the recording and like it. LaChanze does a great job!

No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.
