In a time of falling chandeliers and ascending hooker cats, it was refreshing to see this show so simply staged. Its simple staging really emphasized how talented the cast was.

ckeaton, much as I enjoy the title "beautiful goddess of love", it's just not my style.
You'll have to take my word on that, dearie.

Posted: 6/26/04 at 7:57pmI saw the national tour and it remains one of my favorites. It is a beautiful show. I always thought it would make a great animated film. I don't think a live action film could capture the magical quality of the show. The staging was minimalistic and very effective for the theatre, but I think it would come across as dull on film. However, an animated version would bring a lot of the color, beauty and magic it would require to really capture the hearts of a cinematic audience.

Posted: 11/23/04 at 8:18pmI love this show! I just love the whole feel of it. I think that's what Ahrens & Flaherty are so brilliant at-is capturing the essence and rhythms and style of whatever show they are writing. Love them and OOTI.
