Once on this Island aesthetic?

In a lot of the pics it looks like many of the characters are wearing sports jerseys...Does anyone know why this is?

It takes place in present day on an unnamed island in the French Antilles that deals with a lot of major storms, and the people are very poor. So they're wearing found, homemade, and donated clothing - the kind of donations that aid relief would send. That's why it's so eclectic.

Edited to add: as the storytellers tell the story, elements are added to those present day clothes to further represent the characters from the fable that they're playing, though they're all still homemade and found objects.
