Great scoop Lightsout!!
I think Martin Short will do very well with this role and will certainly sell his share of tickets. it is a very comedic role without much depth required, but great timing, something that is a strength of Short's. I believe he is also a very good friend of Broderick's so that aspect will not compromise the friendship part of the story. I can't recall if they have worked together in the past.
I actually think losing Stockard will hurt the play more, not from a ticket sale standpoint, but for performance and chemistry sake.
Too bad they aren't replacing Broderick - that could only help the play.
I can't imagine it's a huge financial investment to move. It's a pretty basic set. Sad it's the hit of the season considering the play itself isn't very good at all.
South fl Marc, I don't think the producers are unhappy with Broderick. He has done his share of selling the play and they have made lots of money. Replacing Broderick would actually close the play at this point.
