Hey y'all,
I just wanted to share my Opening Night experience that I had last night for a big outdoor production of Fiddler on the Roof in which I am playing Motel. I am sorry if nobody really cares, but I just feel like sharing. First of all I should set the scene. Our stage is built on Olympic Plaza here in Calgary Alberta, where the Olympics had their opening ceremonies in '98. It is a big outdoor plaza downtown, where there is a large square wading pool. Our stage is built on top of the water and there are fountains and waterfalls going in the background to help drown some traffic going by behind the trees. The night was sold out and the cast was so excited.
This is one of the most amazing casts I have ever worked with. All the cast members are college aged and younger, going down to about grade 8 i beleive, so there is wide range of age and talent. The leads are all amazing, particularly Tevye and Golde. One of our Hodels (certain roles alternate nights between 2 actors, mine included) has sung solo at carnegie hall at the age of 20, so she is pretty amazing as well. The audience loved it and rose to a standing ovation. My song was well received and I had a couple of strangers come up to me after the show to congratulate me and I later found out that among them was a fairly well-known local actor, which was cool. Anyways...now that I re-read this post i realize how useful it was but I wrote it all so I don't feel like erasing it. Sorry for boring you... YAY...gotta love the theatre world.

millie,
There is a website, but I am afraid it hasn't been updated with pictures yet. www.summerstock.ca And this may interest you: We are gonna try our hardest to get the rights to do a national tour of MILLIE next year. We are trying to convince MTI to let us be the first big non-official production. I would be either Trevor or Jimmy the producers tell me...I'll keep you updated
