Did anyone notice that on Broadway.com? I'm surprised... I mean I am not saying those reviews warranted a Broadway run, but, if the show was not coming to Broadway, I sort of assumed it would not be going anywhere...
I wonder if they'll secure that cast. Will Kerry and Karen Ziemba want to do it off-Broadway? I mean I guess they aren't doing anything else, but, I am still not sure...

Posted: 5/31/05 at 8:58pmIt is a little surprising that it's going off-Broadway. I'm not sure how big this show is going to be cast-wise, but I doubt we'll be seeing too many "names" in the cast considering the economic realities of running a musical off-Broadway.

Posted: 5/31/05 at 9:03pmI think it might fare better off-Broadway, at least for starters - I know I definitely would like to see it!

Posted: 5/31/05 at 9:08pmThat's a pretty bold statement saying Kelly and Karen arent doing anything....how can you be sure that they aren't in process of getting new material up and running?

Posted: 5/31/05 at 9:16pmI'm sorry--you are totally right. They could be developing something.... Let me rephrase: "I suppose they are not currently scheduled to be on the stage then, but..."

Posted: 5/31/05 at 9:37pmWhat's intresting is that they mention Kerry playing Dede out of town... Does that mean she isn't going to do it here in New York? Hm.

No, it means she played it out-of-town. I'm sure nothing is set for NY yet.
And LF is right - right now Ziemba is in a workshop of the Kander and Ebb musical, SKIN OF OUR TEETH.

Posted: 5/31/05 at 10:03pmI'll add that Kerry has been quite busy too with workshops and recording on CDs and performing in concerts, etc

Posted: 5/31/05 at 10:04pmThanks for that, Craig. Apparently, if you're not actually on Broadway at the moment, you're not doing anything.

Well naturally. And a show that plays off-Broadway isn't as good as Broadway either. Because we all know that Broadway is ALWAYS superior

Still, ELLE, ELLE, ELLE. Let someone else be Ariel. Of course, only if they're at the same time. Otherwise, let Kerry do both. ;D!
Edit: Thought I was bacin the Ariel topic. Whoops. Still, Elle. ;X And of course Dede since it might be this year.

Posted: 5/31/05 at 10:28pmSeriously though, look at how many shows have successfully transferred over the past couple of years. There is nothing to say that that is not exactly what the Weisslers are planning. I'm sure the cast members who have been involved with this show are keeping that in mind.

"Avenue Q (which transferred from off-Broadway to the Great White Way), The Boy from Oz and Wicked all wound up in the black despite multi-million dollar budgets."
----------->That's from the same article, just wondering what that means? Is "in the black" meaning didnt make back its investment?
